I thought I would start a thread to discuss some of the mini-series the BBC make every year.

Its eaiser to talk about these shows in one thread because these shows are ongoing 22 episode season shows but usually 6 episode self contained series.

BBC One Original British Drama 2012 offering is:

- Good Cop - starring Warren Brown (Luther/The Dark Knight Rises) and Stephen Graham (This Is England/Public Enemies).

Warren will play a young Liverpool response cop, PC Rocksavage. When his best friend is murdered the impact of his brutal death throws his whole life and career into turmoil. He starts to question everything he believes in and the difference between right and wrong. He finds himself increasingly desirous for revenge and a different kind of justice.

- Accused - starring Sean Bean (Game Of Thrones), John Bishop (Skins), Robert Sheehan (Misfits), Sheridan Smith (Two Pints Of Lager), Anne-Marie Duff (Shameless UK), Olivia Coleman (Peep Show/The Iron Lady) and Joe Dempsie (Game Of Thrones/Skins)

Episode One - Sean Bean plays English teacher Simon, whose alter ego Tracie's unconventional quest for love entangles him in an affair that leads inexorably to a terrible crime of passion. Stephen Graham stars as Tony, a satellite and aerial engineer, and Rachel Leskovac (Coronation Street, Holby City) plays his wife of 12 years, beautician Karen.

Little do the trio know that once their paths have crossed their lives will change irrevocably.

Episode 2 - Anna Maxwell Martin stars as Tina Dakin, a married mother of three, who is overstretched at home and at the juvenile detention centre where she works as a prison officer.

But something doesn’t seem right when new inmate Stephen Cartwright (Robert Sheehan) arrives and before long she is to meet his father Peter (John Bishop) in the worst circumstances imaginable.

- Shetland - starring Douglas Henshall (Primeval)

The powerful murder-mystery is set against the stunning Scottish backdrop of the Shetland Isles and centres on Detective Jimmy Perez played by Henshall (The Kidnap Diaries, The Silence), a native Shetlander who has returned home after a long spell away.

Recently widowed Perez possesses a bone dry sense of humour and an idealistic desire to protect his beloved Shetland Isles from inevitable change, making him a fascinating detective to watch at work.

When a young archaeologist discovers a set of human remains, the island community is intrigued to know if it’s an ancient find or a contemporary mystery. And when an elderly woman is shot on her land in a tragic accident, Perez and his team find themselves at the centre of two feuding families whose envy, greed and bitterness has divided the surrounding community

- Ripper Street - starring Matthew Macfayden (Three Musketeers) and Jerome Flynn (Game Of Thrones)

. The eight part series, created by Richard Warlow, set in and around Whitechapel in London's East End in 1889, during the aftermath of the Jack The Ripper murders.

- The Secret of Crickley Hall starring Suranne Jones (Doctor Who) Tom Ellis and Donald Sumpter(Game Of Thrones/ The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)

adaptation of James Herbert's best-selling novel.

This three-part drama is a modern day ghost story especially for Halloween. Told in a dual timeframe, it is full of scares yet underpinned by the heart-breaking story of a family needing to heal and ghosts who need to be laid to rest.

A year after their little boy goes missing, Eve (Suranne Jones) and Gabe (Tom Ellis) Caleigh take their family to Crickley Hall to try and escape the past. It seems like the perfect destination, until cellar doors open of their own accord, unseen children cry through the night and water seeps through impervious rock. At the centre of it all, a frenzied spectre wields a cane.

Just as the Caleighs are ready to move out, Eve hears her missing son. Time shifts between present day and 1943 as the Caleighs desperately try to find out what connects Crickley Hall to their lost boy. Will they find him before the evil that stalks Crickley Hall finds their other children?

-The Paradise - starring Sarah Lancashire, Elaine Cassidy, Matthew McNulty (Misfits) and Emun Elliot (Black Death/Prometheus)

adaptation of a much loved classic French novel by Emile Zola.

Smart, ambitious and big hearted Denise Lovett (Vanderham) arrives in the city to seek work in her uncle Edmund’s shop. When he’s unable to help her, she turns to The Paradise and her eyes are opened to a whole new world of possibilities.

This impossibly glamorous store provides the catalyst for her rags-to-riches story as she falls in love with the exhilarating and dangerous charms of the modern world.

Hunted - starring Melissa George (30 Days Of Night/The Amityville Horror) , Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost/GI: Joe), Lex Shrapnel (Thunderbirds/Captain America) and Stephen Dillane (Game Of Thrones/John Adams)

Melissa George plays Sam Hunter, a highly skilled operative for an elite private intelligence firm, who survives an attempt on her life that may have been orchestrated by members of her own team. Once she returns to the firm, she performs her secretive duties without knowing who to trust and who wants her dead.

Dancing On The Edge

Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children Of Men, The Shadow Line, American Gangster) and Matthew Goode (Watchmen, Leap Year, A Single Man).

The five-part series also stars Jacqueline Bisset (Bullitt, The Deep), Janet Montgomery (Black Swan, HBO’s Entourage), Joanna Vanderham (The Runaway, Young Herriot), Tom Hughes (Cemetery Junction, Nick Slade in Silk), Angel Coulby (Guinevere in BBC’s Merlin), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, The Artist), and Wunmi Mosaku (I Am Slave, The Body Farm).

British TV legends Mel Smith (Director of The Tall Guy), Anthony Head (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Iron Lady), Caroline Quentin (Life Of Riley, Kiss Me Kate), and Jane Asher (Holby City, The Palace) also star.

The drama is set in the early 1930s and follows black jazz musicians, the Louis Lester Band, as they find fame amongst the parties and performances of London’s upper class society. Although many recoil at the performance of black musicians in polite society, the city’s more progressive socialites, including members of the Royal Household, take the band under their wing.

But when the band becomes entangled in their shadowy world, it results in a suspected murder. The walls begin to close in on Louis and the band.

Top Of The Lake

Jane Campion's mini-series "Top Of The Lake", features Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men)

A New Zealand set tale of a detective investigating the disappearance of a 12-year-old pregnant daughter of a local drug lord.

Yay, another season of The Hour! I loved that last year and I had heard that it was picked up...and never heard anything after that. I thought it had been dropped or something, so this makes me very happy.

Also looking forward to The Girl and The Fall.

I love the trailers they put together for these. Gets me hyped and I usually love at least one show. The one with Bronn and Mr. Darcy looks intriguing.

Frist episode of Good Cop was great. Pretty dark. The morally grey grim gritty style reminded me of Luther probably because Warren Brown is in both show.

Manchester set Cop turns vigilante revenge show. Stephen Graham did his typical scary psycho gangster thug which isn't a bad thing because his one of the best actors alive at that type of role.

First episode of Hunted was great. It was like a cross between Alias and Bourne movie franchise.

Nobody does it better than the British! I can't wait for these shows to come down here. I bet it takes months

Four episodes in and Hunted has become one of the the most unintentionally hilarious shows people have seen in a while.

Even the Guardian has been laughing their asses off at this show.

The show is crazy with its obsession with dairy products, mockney characters, Comedian Doc Brown playing a tough guy, magic super bike skills, people who hate boots and random characters that serve no purpose at all.

I like to watch Top Gear lol. Why? I'm not really sure. I'm just amused by those men I guess.

EDIT: I just love BBC America. I'm actually watching BBC world news at the moment. I like to if I'm early in the morning like I am right now.

I think it's been good so far, granted there is a Guy Richie Sherlock Holmes influence....
I like the main 3 actors and Joseph Gilgun was really good as the villain last night.
