I actually think TDKR may have a small chance at getting a SAG best ensemble nomination– although they may have to find a way to replace Cotillard with Mendelsohn.

Yeah, the SAG Ensemble is the only acting nod I actually thought it had a (small) chance of getting. Individual Academy acting nods are obviously out.

So true. In complete opposition to my predictions before the film came out, I don't think TDKR deserves any major Oscars and I think proves your point about people assuming way too much about Django Unchained and The Hobbit before having seen those movies. Six months ago, based on the trailers for TDKR, I thought Nolan had done it again and surpassed himself. I thought the film was a shoe-in for major nominations now that the field for Best Picture has been opened up to make room for critically acclaimed blockbusters. But TDKR wasn't what I expected it to be. It ended up being a major disappointment for me and it appears many other people. The same thing could happen with Django Unchained and The Hobbit. Django could end up being another Kill Bill or Death Proof. Tarrantino's record is not spotless and neither is Jackson's.

lol, Marion will forever be haunted by that death scene. If it wasn't for that, I think at worst; people would just say she was underdeveloped as Talia.

I still don't see whats so bad about her death scene. Some people just die in a non-spectacular way, but I need to rewatch the movie, perhaps if I'm lucky next week.

Interesting how the BATMAN in this BATMAN movie gets downplayed in those. Was it the same for TDK?

The only BATMAN for the TDK one was when Batman showed up at the ruins of where Rachel died, that's it.

Not true. Numerous critic awards, like the NYFCC, LAFCA and NSFC give awards to actors for a body of work for that year– if Hathaway is getting nominated (and most likely she will) it'll be for both TDKR and Les Miserables.

As amazing as Bale has been in this trilogy with top notch acting, I don't ever see an actor getting nominated let alone win an oscar for playing a superhero.

I was only talking about the principal ones (GG, SAG, Oscars, BFCA, BAFTA) and not the critics awards. Last edited by kvz5; 11-30-2012 at 09:27 PM. |

They could have easily used the shot of Batman on the bridge for the TDKR for your consideration promos.

It's too bad, because if anyone deserved a nomination, it would be Bale.

Yea Bale really did invest himself completely in the role. The guy gets flak for being too serious, but I like how serious he is about his roles. But at least he got recognition 2 years ago for work elsewhere.

Yeah... He's finally getting recognition now for his other work. I'm predicting that he'll get a lead Oscar nod in the next few years or so (maybe even as early as next year) and he'll get one more win in his career. |

Pretty much. As much as I've seen great actors portraying comic book characters, I haven't seen anyone else deserve an Oscar as much as Christian Bale for this DK trilogy.

The score might be the only thing that is Oscar calibur about this film.
Everything else, for sure, won't meet Academy Award standards. There's no chance. |

I see noms but not wins. Cinematography, sound, sound editing, visual effects, and other related nominations have to be in the mix.

Yes, she can be. Just not twice in the same category.

I'd like to see Hans finally get a damn nomination. I know some people aren't a fan of his work but it's the Batman music that's had the most impact on me.
I'm sure Skyfall has a chance with the cinematography, and I hope it wins. |
