I thought it was great documentary. Michael didn't perform full out because they were just rehearsals. He would have been much better in actual concerts. Just look at Bad Tour rehearsal of Smooth Criminal:

I still thought it was pretty lackluster COMPARED TO his actual performances. As for him being "frail", re-watch This Is It & take note of who's listed in the credits as MJ's trainer.

Heh, I was joking with my brother about this song. I was saying how I think it's great but I can only get 1 or 2 verses he's saying.

Also noticed the phrase "cold as ice" in Al Capone & I'm So Blue and I couldn't see him putting 2 different songs on one album with the same distinct terms like that. Just a little something that made me wonder about the production of the album and him writing so many songs for Bad like he did.

Thanks for the head's up! I had no idea this special was even on or I would have DVR'd it. I'll watch it on Hulu instead.

I accidentally stumbled onto a feature on it in USA Today. Otherwise I wouldn't have known about it. I watched it & I loved it. I can't believe "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" was originally supposed to be recorded with Whitney.

I'm glad there's a longer version and that they'll be airing it. I was watching it on DVR and was surprised at how sudden the commercial breaks were. It felt like they had just stopped and cut things out.

I thought it was a nice look at his character and awareness with how they spoke about Michael thinking that the ghetto and subway station used in the "Bad" video were sets that were built. For someone like MJ, who was born into stardom, I can only imagine what kind of a rude awakening it was to see that people who were less fortunate actually lived in those places with those conditions.

Michael wasn't born into stardom; he spent his earliest years in a working class neighborhood in Gary, Indiana. But Joe organized the boys into a group and had Michael touring with them from a young age. The Jacksons never lived in a stereotypical ghetto and Michael was never exposed to that sort of environment. Therefore, when he saw the area the video was filmed in it was a bit of a culture shock for him.

Black people are like everyone else; we come from diverse backgrounds. I can relate to Michael's reaction. I grew up in a rural area of working and middle-class families. Although I had seen photos and film of inner city neighborhoods, it wasn't until I was an adult that I ever visited places like that. It was a hell of a shock, believe me.
