Update the outfit for next solo film

For me, the Avengers costume didn't work.
The cowl seemed really tight against Evans' head, and seemed to make his cheeks squish outward. Evan's has a decent jawline, but it got lost in the cowl.
I don't know if it was his physique or the costume, be he seemed really slim, especially in the legs.
The slimness of the legs was really set off by the belt pouches, which made his waist look wider, thus giving his chest/shoulders a narrower appearance.
The boots and gauntlets were way too bulky, and only served to make his legs and arms seem smaller.

In most comic book movies, a tighter suit like that is accentuated by muscle padding, and that didn't seem to happen.

For WS, I'd like to see something more akin to the TFA costume.
On a side note, I feel Evans is simply to boyish looking to be Steve Rogers. They could have used someone slightly older in the story, or someone who at least looked a little older and rugged.

I'd agree with that; they can redesign the helmet/cowl but I saw absolutely nothing wrong with the rest of the costume [save for those silver shoulder things, what was their purpose again?]. In regards to the other comments on here, a tighter, more form-fitting costume was always going to make Evans look slimmer [and the fact that Evans has such a slim waist and thin legs only accentuated that] but what do people want? It's form-fittiing like the 616 costume using subtle padding that stops short of making things look ridiculously exagerated. I see no problem with it and Evans, as usual, was in great shape - his back looked thick [especially on the Hellicarrier when he goes off to look for the phase-2 stuff] and he had that v-taper thing going on which suggests a shape befitting Cap.

If I'm not mistaken, the one of the reasons they changed it in the comics was to make it more movie friendly.

Yeah, but (thankfully) Cassaday pulled back that design a bit to be more like the normal 616 costume

That one is way too busy

Everything else I can understand, although I don't agree, but the bolded is what I don't get. Chris Evans makes a great Steve Rogers visually. At times he looks very manly and at other times he looks boyish. Both are necessary IMO, and one thing I dislike about lots of interpretations of Cap is that he's too burly to the point where it's annoying.

I know it's somewhat of a running visual 'gag' in the comics, but have we ever seen Cap America using his pouches at all? He doesn't strike me as the superfluous type. If anything, he is a minimalist.

If he's not going to use the pouches in any film, then what's the point?

So far in his new suit, we've only seen him use a gun once and that was from one of the soldiers that Hawkeye brought with him. I'm not so sure he needs the belt anymore.

These 2 things, and the helmet/cowl, are the things that have constantly come up in this thread. I'm sure Marvel Studios are planning on changing things as well so I sure hope these things happen.

I don't really get it, either. I think people are just so used to seeing the square-jawed, mature-looking Cap in the comics that they forget he was in his early twenties when he became Cap and in his mid-twenties when he was frozen. He should look young.

I would prefer they just have him use something from the belt: C4, or a rebreather, or just a set of binoculars.

Anyways, with a new creative team for this movie I think it's safe to say that we'll be getting a new costume design as well.

I think it depends on the artist. Some are just doing an altered version the classic suit and others are going Dark Knight on it.

Evans can look manly but I think what your noticing is this. Steve Rogers was a very young man when he enlisted. But Stark and everyone else are entering their 30's. Thor looks young but the beard makes him older. Evans is just clean shaven in this one. Throw a 5 oclock shadow and him and he ages instantly.

I have no problem with him looking young but if the SSS changed his body so radically, including his bone structure, then he could have come away from the treatment more square-jawed.
Quite simply, I don't like Evans in the role, but that's just my opinion.
While we are playing on a whim here, set aside the fact that Hemsworth is absolutely PERFECT for Thor...
Imagine if Hemsworth had gotten to play Rogers....

Also, realize this TRUE HERO was 26 or 27 years old when this picture was taken, and he looks older and more mature than Evans did at 30 for TFA

I think Chris Evans does a fantastic job. He has the look, and I think he is a fantastic actor, which is obviously the most important aspect. I will say the one thing you want out of Cap is a big chin, but Evans is no slouch in that department:
