Sheen is a big fan of genre films like fantasy and science fiction which is why he did Tron Legacy, the Underworld films and Timeline. He did Twilight for his daughter because she was a fan of the books.

Someone over at another site suggested Jason Statham for Rocket Racoon, which, now thinking about it, I wouldn't mind at all.

It wouldn't bother me if he was Star-Lord, though. I like the guy as an actor.

I'd love it if they went with Huston. But only if it didn't interfere with his schedule on BE. Dude is the best thing on what is already possibly the best show on TV.

Nowhere near the best show (This season has been pretty great tho), but Huston is fantastic on BE. Id be more than happy to see him in ANY Marvel movie in the future.

Why would anyone want Marsden to continue as Cyclops in future X films? He did absolutely nothing with the role (the writers didnt help him of course). And since he wore the visor the whole time, recasting would have minimal impact continuity-wise.
Cyke is supposed to be a field general. A hard-nosed, sometimes ruthless, leader. That aint Marsden. Recast ASAP. (My fear is that Singer, who's sentimental streak doomed SR, will cast Marsden again in order to "fix" what they did to his character in XM3. Hope this isnt the case) If they're going with a more lighthearted Star-Lord, I suppose he could manage it. But Im hoping for a more hard-boiled take on the character. How much GOTG have you read? Star-Lord is exceptionally glib and funny...basically was doing Downey's Iron Man schtick before the IM movie came out. I wouldn't use "hard-boiled" to describe him.

The writers did more than not help him, they totally botched his character in favor of concentrating on Wolverine. He was woefully underused in the X-Men movies, culminating in one of the worst character death decisions in superhero stories.

Yeah Cyclops in the X-Men movies was a joke. I have no idea how none of the writers realized he does nothing of consequence and has no bearing whatsoever on either film. Dumb.
Also Drax and Gamora kind of have the hard-boiled warrior thing covered. |

Well by hard-boiled I meant weathered, cynical, world-weary type a la Bogart as Sam Spade in Maltese Falcon or more recently Bruce Willis in many roles including Die Hard. Blood-thirsty warrior is NOT the same as hard-boiled.
In the run-up to the Annihilation saga, I think Quill was indeed cynical and world-weary. At least thats where he was at that point in his "life". http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/starlor17.jpg Heres the wiki article for clarity: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardboiled Hope that clears things up. edit: btw Ive read all the "modern" GotG stuff plus most of the recent (last 10 years) cosmic stuff. And ive read enough of the "classic" GotG to understand the characters. Frankly there really isnt much material compared to the other MCU properties and even within the comics Marvel has taken many liberties with the team. Because of this and because no one - not even many comic fans - has any clue who the GotG are is why I think that this movie will be by far the least faithful to the details of the source material. The movie could alienate every single GotG fanboy on the planet and it still wouldnt put a noticeable dent in the box office if the movie is good. Last edited by Joeyjojo72; 12-02-2012 at 06:14 PM. |

I know what hard-boiled means, lol. The entire cast can't be cynical and joyless. This isn't Watchmen.
The Annihilation/Conquest books had more characters like Nova and Phyla to balance out all of the bitterness |

Cyclops in X1 was overly protective of Jean and Xavier, lead the team and gave orders, and was a pretty big douche bag all throughout. Sounds like Scott to me. Marsden was and still is perfect.

Im just saying that one iteration of the Star-Lord character was indeed hard-boiled ![]() But Im not saying they have to go that route. Also, I dont consider Gamora to be joyless. She seems to take quite a bit of pleasure in her "work" and in her life in general. Just because she's a killer doesnt mean she's never happy. One more point: Feige himself has referenced the Dirty Dozen as a template for this movie. There were MANY hard-boiled character on that team and the movie was still a lot of fun. I don't expect that level of hardness to this movie, but making SL somewhat hard-boiled doesnt mean the movie won't have humor or even a generally light tone. I think a grimmer SL could work, but I also think a more light-hearted take could be equally good. Just saying that theres more than one way to skin a cat. edit: Chewy you are absolutely right that the team in the comics has more characters to balance the tone than the movie version. Good point. Huston is great. There is definitely a Marvel role out there for him. Just not sure if I want him as Quill.

Drax should be the only joyless character. I'd actually enjoy sort of a Drax/ Gamora dynamic similar to Drax/ Phyla in the comics, but with Gamora being slightly more mature. |

Lol maybe Rocket should be the hardboiled one and SL can be more the devil-may-care type.

Rocket imo should be played straight. That makes him being a Raccoon that much more funny.

I wonder who will be voicing Rocket. What accent does he have in the comics, presuming he takes a human one?

Michael Rooker mentioned wanting to voice him. He'd be a great fit IMO.
