Yeah, the quality of the image itself is pretty bad for something officially released, though I do have to say, anyone who saw the bootleg footage and is complaining about not seeing anything new because they saw something illegally leaked, I have to put my head down in shame in response.

I do have to say though, if i was a general person walking by the theater seeing the poster, it would catchy my attention. I would ask myself, "why is Superman in chains?"
That being said it could have been executed so much better though.
It's okay i guess, i'm currently loving and hating it.

A ridiculous poster, which is conceptually wrong anyway... Cause that is the scene in the SDCC trailer that bothered me most, I mean, Superman in handcuffs?

They better come up with a damn good explanaiton for that!

Not out of respect but I'm guessing the it happens after a big battle where towns/buildings are destroyed and they want to pin it on Supes. And I guess he agreed that he was accountable for it.

This "poster" is interesting. Notably, consider the fact that Superman is being portrayed as a villain. He is in handcuffs (which he could easily break free from), which means he is willingly going with them, despite being able to singlehandedly destroy them all...

The idea here is about power, doing the right thing, believing that the human race is worth respecting, saving/protecting, etc. Ideas that Zod, the real villain does not share.

Remember the line about deciding what kind of man he wants to be? Good or bad? This all ties into that.

As others have said...fantastic concept, underwhelming execution.

It's definitely different, which is what they were going for. Underwhelming maybe, compared to other typical blockbuster-poster, but it sticks out and I'll take that any day over just another flashy poster.

This is a trend that seems to be growing. I'm not sure if it's a push back on the high definition lives we live now or what. I've seen a lot of artists as of late adding "noise" or "film grain" to their work. I'm convinced they read about it in some top 10 trends list and just rolled with it. Similar to when "Web 2.0" started getting thrown around as if it meant something new and fresh.

I think this is their approach to the marketing overall (thus far). As silly as it sounds, it's intentionally underwhelming. Pit that against the general public's opinion that Superman is too big, too powerful to fail (and thus boring), then you have some turned heads, like you described.

Doesn't excuse crappy workmanship.

Just underwhelming compared to what people are used to and were expecting. Otherwise not necessarily.

I feel like they should have used a different approach to this poster... painting Superman as a villain in the first real poster feels wrong to me... this seems like a poster that should have been used later on in the marketing campaign.
