100% agree... its a mix of Bruce's story ending, but that HAS to involve the people of Gotham given the circumstances and that is what Bruce set out to save...the City.

I am saying out of the trilogy, Gotham's POV was needed most of all in TDKR for the aforementioned reasons.

the only time it really showed the citizens was when Bane was enjoying sideline seats at the football game.

You see, I sorta agree with you, but, to me, the lack of Gotham's POV wasn't enough to deter my enjoyment of the film. I was so invested in Bruce's journey coming to the end he deserved. Again, had the focus on Gotham not been so strong in TDK, I would've 100% agreed with you, but such isn't the case.

Exactly. I like that Nolan always gave Gotham a personality. Since Batman was all about saving Gotham, Nolan cared enough to give the little people of Gotham a voice and personality.

We get the most Gotham centric plot in TDKR. A revolution of the people for 5 months. The Harvey Dent lie is exposed. Batman comes back after 8 years. Big events for Gotham City.

I still can't believe we don't see even a single reaction shot of the reporters and photographers present when Bane exposes Dent.

There are only two types of people in this world...

Cops and Convicts.

If only we got a patient look at the lower class. We usually only saw their fleeting forms in the chaos of a montage. Either that or their silhouettes.

In the end, that's what it's all about in the final act, though.

Needless to say, we do see orphans and Wayne Enterprises board members as much as we got Wayne Enterprises board members and "street folk" in Batman Begins.

I have to say...I think originally I felt a bit put off by the fact that the climax took place during the day. It felt jarring considering not only did the previous two Nolan films have the climax at night, but so did every single Batman movie (minus the 66 version) and most Batman stories in general.

Now, I've really come around to it. It all comes back to Memento for me and even Insomnia, and how Nolan set out to invert film noir conventions with those films by having them both take place almost strictly during daylight. And this series had been heading in that direction after TDK really upped the stakes by having a lot of the carnage happen during the day. I always "got" why having Batman fighting with the police during the day was an appropriate story beat for the climax of the trilogy, but now it's starting to really sink in on a gut level. In fact, I really think the whole final chase is somewhat underrated. It's fast and furious, the Bat is just marvelous to watch, and the only thing cooler than Batman on the Bat-pod is Catwoman on the Bat-pod . To top it off, the wintery daytime setting really adds a layer of bleakness to it all. Almost like it's foreshadowing the potential nuclear winter that's awaiting Gotham.
