So, can anybody explain to me what this "clean slate" thing means? I'm pretty sure the movie was a bit ambiguous with it all.

Actually you can live through a broken neck like Daggett does, which is to say you can live for a little bit before you die, hence the brief muffled whimpering. It's not always an instantaneous thing, just like a bullet to the head.

They describe it clearly. It pretty much just gets rid of any information about what you've done so you have a clean slate.

Daggett kind of reminded me of Jarvis (Mad Hatter).

I never realised how bad the dialogue was in that scene till the Blu-Ray.

It is, but at the same time, people who are incredibly nervous also tend to babble incoherently.

I thought it was great. He's such an ass and he's just blatantly mocking her for believing such a ridiculous thing existed. He used her desperation to his advantage, and he's proud of it.
