I was incredibly disappointed in Dredds failure. When I seen it at the midnight screening, I was one of 12 people to see it. I and the other people there loved it, I heard it didn't do bad overseas, they were just stuck with a crappy promotional studio. I seen plenty of marketing, but it was all on after 10pm.

Its domestic run is officially over, what a platry return for such a good movie, cant believe people didnt embrace this in the US, even from WOM alone.
Here's hoping internationally it continues to do well and then of course on DVD/BD it needs to do amazing.

You know, I don't actually think Dredd did *change* in the remake. He's a hardass certainly, but he's a hardass who does things like:
1. Give a harmless beggar fair warning to stop lawbreaking rather than letting him go unwarned 2. Took down a couple kids nonlethally who were pointing guns at him, because they were clearly dumb kids over their heads 3. Told Anderson that "99% certain isn't good enough to execute a man." Dredd at the end of the movie didn't soften his views on the law. Rather, he softened his views on *Anderson*, who showed that she was both learning the lessons, and had judgement and conviction to match her idealism. It would be nice if the home release had some decent special features. I'd hate this film's meagre BO to result in a rushed out, "trailer and a link to the website" DVD...

While Box office mojo hasnt been updated in a while, it's stil pulling in cash. Brought some people to see it yesterday in toronto, and there was still about 20 or so other people in the theatre.

According to the-numbers.com, the movie is upto $36 million WW, and this hasnt been updated for a week, so hopefully the movie can make another $15 or so million WW, and then with DVD/BD sales you never know.
Hopeful I know but lets see.

^Yeah lets hope this does amazing numbers on DVD/BD, I cant really see it, but lets hope the WOM from the cinema carries over onto those sales.

Indeed. Though it's Jan 8th for the US and 14th for the UK. Probably next Christmas for Japan.

Is that Russian text under the title? Maybe the Region 5 comes out before new year or something. The US Facebook page says Jan 8th though.

Really cant wait to see this again on BD.
Unfortunately it has all gone quiet on the sequel front, I just cant see it happening now which is a damn shame, if we get a TV show though, it'll be some consolation.

Wonder if there's still hope for Rogue Trooper?

It will most likely be a wait and see with how DVD/BD sales go.

Last I heard of that was Sam Worthington's production company had picked it up. I haven't heard anything since and that was long before Dredd was even released.
My hopes is that Rogue Trooper does see an adaptation also. It has potential and I'd really like to see that one take off.

God knows BB, as usual I aint getting my hopes up, heard nothing since Sam Worthington's company picked it up. Actually think he would be good as RT as well.
Yeah, although I cant see it doing amazing there either, especially in the US, were it seems the character is barely known. Quote:

True. It's really an unknown at this stage. On the other hand I looked up Worthington recently and I just found out that he was born in England (I honestly didn't know), perhaps he may have a soft spot for the British made Rogue Trooper enough to push it through. We can only live in hope, I guess.

It's still in cinemas and the DVD isn't out yet so my naive expectation of a sequel hasn't really changed. I'm wondering if the crossover may help keep the momentum going, whereas a period of non-activity may have stalled things somewhat.
I mean, what little momentum it has. |

Special features sound decent but a commentary would have been nice. Especially if Garland had been involved...
