Weather it comes from someone's fan made trailer description or Goyer's script, a superman forum should welcome this sort of discussion with open arms imo. If anything it's much more satisfying than the color of the S shield.

But not necessarily more or less valid than Jonathan's.

It's the point of view of the Joseph of father of god made flesh, in not so many words. There is a man that might see responsibility over morality. I for one just find that interesting as a thematic point, not that I side with it.

I don't disagree. Like I said, it's a bold direction to take the character in. I just don't find it appropriate. Jonathan forbidding Clark to interfere with human history because of his abilities - and if not that, then simply being of the opinion that Clark has a responsibility not to interfere because of his abilities - makes it sound as if he considers Clark to be a "higher being" first and his son second. It also (IMO) contradicts who the character is at his very core.

Jonathan Kent wouldn't discourage anyone from doing everything in their power to secure the safety of others - even if that person's capabilities far exceeded his own. Naturally, because Clark is his son, there is a desire to protect him and keep his secret safe. But I don't think that desire is so strong that he would have Clark sit back and allow his classmates to die for the sake of not being discovered.

On Smallville(), this is the same Johnathan that was prepared to kill for his kids secret, or rather, normal happy life.

That I admittedly have less of a problem with (because his motivation is to protect his family from someone outside of the family revealing the secret), but that makes me a little uncomfortable as well.

ok, so the trailer description sounds way too close to the CC trailer. and doesn't that contradict what that earlier "leak" said that it would be entirely new footage?? and include Zod??

to me, it sounds fake. the part that sticks out the most is Pa Kent's line that maybe Clark should let his classmates die. from what we've seen and heard so far, we know that this Jonathan is much more "protective" or hesitant about his son revealing his secret/powers. But, to suggest that it might be ok to let people (kids) die........that just sounds too out of character.

now......IF this description is true and Jonathan really does say that.......that will be my 1st big worry about the film. That just doesn't fit the character.......

I guess we will find out in a few days........

You are acting like I control the site and told people to stop talking about a real or fake discription of the trailer and judging the entire film based on that.

We won't know some people were speculating it won't be online until Monday but we'll have to see, I'm sure we'll get to see it online in the Friday in some form.

So i was thinking-If the rumour about Zod having a Robot army in MOS is true then it means Braniac cant have a Robot army in a sequel otherwise itd be a rehash.My guess is that Braniac will have an army of alien creatures instead,most likely gathered from planets hes attacked.

So Mos 1 will have an Alien Zod leading a Robot army
Mos 2 will have a Robot (Braniac)leading an Alien army.

Well Brainiac isn't aways an android, in many versions he's an actual alien from a planet called Colu we'll have to wait and see.

That trailer-description might be fake, but it's entirely possible that Jonathan wont be the super-friendly all-saint he's usually depicted as. He might be more of a realist and pessimist while being overprotective as well. Kinda like in Birthright.
So him saying that line to Clark might be a pessimistic way of saying he wont be able to save everybody and that he's in over his head in this world. Though that line makes it sound like he shouldnt even try, which is stretching it.

It's definitely possible, I mean if he does say maybe how do we know in the film he might not say maybe then think and say no but you have to be careful if people discover your secret blah blah blah.
