Default Where should they film the future scenes?

An obvious one would be the outback to get that Mad Max feel but these days most of the outback has an oil pump sticking out of it.

Any interesting places in America you think they might want to shoot in? I for one would prefer not to use sets because a real world setting is more shocking.
