i liked dark knight rises quite a lot. it was bales best performance under the cowl and hathaway was brilliant. the court which scarecrow presided over was genius too. although i thought the editing and pacing were horrendous, which didn't help the story flow. bane was a great villain, right up to the reveal at the end. and the way he was defeated seemed like a mere afterthought.

I read the book first, as well, and I also found it to be superior, purely because we got so much more into the heads of every character, but that is the nature of the medium. If you watch the film again and take it as its own thing, you might enjoy it more. I certainly did.

the shining book and shining film should just not be attributed to each other really. kubrick was too much of his own man to take too much from the book, but his film still stands on it's own as one of the best horror films ever made.

All the books and movies after the first are unnecessary sequels, so some of the decline is inevitable. And while the filmmakers did a lot of things in Caspian that you're supposed to do when adapting that book, I much preferred the more relaxed feel of Voyage to the super-serious Caspian

I agree with liking TDKR a lot, and the problems with the pacing and editing. Even though the other Nolan-Batman film had similar editing and pacing, I felt that none the less TDKR had far more scenes that just needed to breathe more because it was focusing more on the drama than the action. Though, I should add, even where drama is concerned, some of the edits are a bit jarring. Like when the LoA is about to execute Blake, and Batman shows up to save him even though it seemed like that scene was going on at the same time as Batman's scene elsewhere where he's saving Gordon. Based on the way it cuts back and forth between the two ext. you'd think Batman was in two places at once or could teleport.

On another note, this isn't an unpopular opinion, but a question. Anyway, is there any irony to the movie Tangled being marketed as a domestic spat between "step-daughter"(kidnapped girl) and "step-mother", but ended up being more action-adventurous, while Brave was marketed as an action-adventure but ended up being more of a domestic spat? Is the Disney marketing staff trolling us?

I really need to watch Red again, and while I admit it was the better realized film, I find that I enjoyed The Losers more.

Die Another Day isn't the worst Bond film.

Savages was terrible. It's unfortunate Benicio Del Toro got stuck with this film.

I'd put Man With The Golden Gun as the front runner.

MWTGG was just stupid, but not anger-inducing the way DAF was. Christopher Lee made the best out of what he had, and the duel between him and Bond was the (most? one?) interesting scene in the movie. Plus Moore wasn't too old for the part--and Connery was definitely pushing it in DAF.

Not too mention we come hot off the last movie, where the series archnemesis killed Bond's wife and the only narrative attention that gets is the pre-titles sequence where Bond lazily slaps around informants and "finishes off" Blofeld in less than ten minutes. And then it's back to the status quo in the laziest way imaginable.

I don't know, maybe I expected too much sequel in a serial film series.

Although I agree that Golden Gun has the worst plot--monopolize a renewable resource? Seriously?

At least something interesting happened in DAF. MWTGG is the only Bond movie that actually puts me to sleep.

The Godfather is an outdated borefest.

QT's love of bad movies has made him a bad movie maker.

Christopher Lee's Dracula is better than Bela's.

Those are all remarkably unpopular opinions. Mission accomplished.

I've probably said this before, but I think Green Lantern should've spent more time on Earth. More specifically, I think it should've hewn closer to "Secret Origin" than trying to split the difference between that and "Emerald Dawn". I think it could've been a better and more cost-effective film, and the sequel would be all in space.

Hostile is a disaster, worse than most spoofs out there

I got what made Cabin in the Woods popular, still loathe that film

just curious; what makes inglorious basterds a bad film? i'd say that's his second best, just behind pulp fiction and just ahead of jackie brown.

I agree 100%, and I am one of the few who actually enjoyed that movie (didn't love it, but liked it).

I have yet to make it through the whole of GL. Got the DVD because I'm a DC guy to the bone, but every time I try to watch it I always loose interest or something comes up about half way through.
