I hope so. I have 2 codes for Super Smash Bros and Majora's Mask I've been holding on to so I can redeem them on the WiiU. Seems that isn't possible at the moment.

If you're not looking to get the Wii U, which is backwards compatible with Wii games, then go for it. There are a ton of gems on Wii that made the console worth it, IMO.

yeah, I don't really see myself plunking down $300+ for the Wii U.

so maybe I will consider getting a used Wii, cheap, if I can find it.

You can still redeem them by using the Virtual Console in Wii Mode.

The Wii U's inconvenient day one patch will be greeting new console owners until next year. Speaking with Gamasutra, Nintendo America president Reggie Fils-Aime said the update won't be built into the system until early 2013.

"Nintendo developers want to make sure that the very best product is available to consumers," Fils-Aime told Gama. "That creates a dynamic where our developers are working on elements until the very last point possible. That's why the system update was required on day one – and this is quite similar to what's happened with other consumer electronic products."

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata had previously apologized for the inconvenience, noting he believed customers "should be able to use all the functions of a console video game machine as soon as they open the box." If you're getting a Wii U console over the holidays, make sure to practice patience during the update and, whatever you do, don't interrupt the Wii U doin' its thang.

Just played the Rayman Legends game... System seller! It has clever and fun ways to use the center and it's a beautiful game to boot.

does it "upconvert/upscale" the Wii games, or do they still look the same?

also, have they said if there will be a Wii U version of Skyward Sword, or a new Wii U Zelda game?

I'm also interested to know if the Wii games are upscaled or at least look better. However, you can take it to the bank that Skyward Sword is NEVER getting a WiiU re-release.

No up scaling that I've seen. New Zelda is planned for sometime 2013 I believe.

I was seriously contemplating getting a used Wii for around $80. Mainly, I want to play Skyward Sword ( and a few other games ).

but if there is indeed an HD-Wii U Zelda coming out in a few years.........I'll wait for that.

I didn't think Skyward Sword was that great... I'm old fashioned though... I'd rather have simple button presses over Waggle.

hmmmm......yeah......I'd rather use a classic controller vs the motion controller.

that's one of the main reasons why I held off on getting a Wii. also nevet got into Kinect of the Playstation Move.......

is the Wii U controller ( and games ) more traditional in that sense? in that they rely more on button pressing instead of waving the controller around.....

Yup, there's motion but not Waggle. Much more "classic" in style.
