Epic bumping again, for those who haven't heard yet. And, some progress reports!
![]() The Last Ascension is going well, I think I'm beginning to finally beat this writer's block thing. It's really becoming the "dark fantasy" book of the series, and I like that. I mean, Mathion was great, but I have a feeling that people generally think, "Oh, so Mathion's infallible?" and I don't want that to be the case. I mean, I kind of do, because then they get totally bait-and-switched in Book 2, so that's a plus I guess. I'm also looking for established book reviewers. I've already emailed a couple but if you know any, please let me know in a reply. And if you've read the damn thing, let me know what you think! Good, bad, doesn't matter. I like feedback ![]() Thanks guys. |

The Mavonduri Trilogy is now "LEGACY OF THE WOLVEN"!! In my quest for publication, I have to think as a reader would. As much as it's been a part of this experience, to a regular reader "Mavonduri Trilogy" is either a) very hard to pronounce or b) too overly self-indulgent. LEGACY OF THE WOLVEN is much more appealing to YA readers, so that's what I'm going with.
Thoughts? |

Alright Hype!sters, I've recently come up with a (hopefully) brilliant idea
![]() The idea? Make MATHION the first-ever YouTube-exclusive audiobook. I'm recording the audio myself, but not in the way you think. I'm going for a more "dramatic reading" angle, making it somewhat episodic, well....why don't you take a listen at the Prologue? It's a test video right now, but depending on the response from the test listeners I may debut it as the first installment. But enough of me talking, why don't you listen yourself? So is it Mathion or Legacy of the Wolven? I'm mostly just questioning the image on the audio recording. I know you've changed it to Legacy of the Wolven but I don't know if the Mathion term is still important or if it's just an older image. If the latter is true then you'll probably want to update it.
As for the YouTube reading... I don't know what to think about it yet. I like audiobooks but only if I can listen to them while working. I suppose that can be done on my phone if I'm using YouTube but that depends on whether I have internet connection, which my building is spotty on. It's not bad to listen to while sitting on the computer though. I'm curious what other people have to say about it. Have you posted it to facebook or anything to get other opinions? I enjoyed listening to your example. I've attempted to make my own audiobook for Cicada Song and I gotta say this... you're a heck of a lot better at it than I was. My wife mocks me when I try it. She says I suddenly turn british when I read my book out loud.

Also, is your books still for sale? I was going to ask how sales were going but saw the link to smashwords wasn't working anymore.

The title of the book is still MATHION, he trilogy has just been retitled to Legacy of the Wolven. The YouTube vid I have up is unlisted, just so I can get general opinions from you guys here and at RGI, so yes the cover image is old, I'm working on a couple new ones though.
As far as the book itself goes, I've taken it off Amazon and Barnes & Noble. In my search for an agent, it's best to not have them up. |

I've been debating on how to handle that myself. Cicada Song is doing fairly well on Amazon (well, it's free, but I'm going for publicity at the moment). I've gotten 74 reviews for a 4.3 out of 5 star ranking and I'm proud of that. I figure once I hit 100 I might try to get an agent, showing them that my book has legs and that many of the comments are asking for more (and I will give them more).
However, I've read that agents and publishers don't like to represent self-published books unless they're huge hits, but then, when last I tried to get an agent for Cicada Song I couldn't even get past the query stage. This will be my next attempt, but I'm worried that it's been self-published will hurt more than help, and without that I don't see anyone paying attention to it anyway. Eh, the pains of a hopeful author. Also, when you take your book down do you lose all your comments? Can you disable it and then reenable it later and just keep on going?

When you take a book "Off Sale" (whether on Amazon or B&N), the sale page is removed from the website, but unless you delete it from your dashboard, if you ever decide to put the book back on sale then the comments and reviews will still be there.

I only read the book on Smashwords once. Will it go back up there in it's earlier cut form?
Also, I never got around to reading your other copy you sent me in e-mail. One day I will.

Ladies and gentlemen, cross your fingers.
An agent asked me for sample pages, and I sent them to her. Things may be about to change forever... |

I would advise slowing your scrolling text down a bit. With the fancy font and the quickness of the scroll, it's hard to catch it all. Otherwise, pretty awesome

Alright guys, I've finally come over to the dark side and...*gulp*...gotten a Tumblr....
Yeah.. ![]() It's growing on me, though. It's an easy blog system and free advertising, so I might as well take advantage of it. And it keeps me writing and can help grow my fanbase. Anyway, if any of you do Tumblr at all I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out. I don't have full mastery of Tumblr yet, so be warned legacyofthewolven.tumblr.com |

Few updates, for more frequent updates follow me on Twitter @Mavonduri.
- Found a new literary agent to query, seems like she's looking for what I have so fingers crossed ![]() - The Last Ascension is coming along well, new challenges being discovered for our heroes. - The first episode of the Audiobook Experience will be the Foreword & Prelude to Mathion. The Foreword is a "Dear Reader" (or "Dear Listener" for AE listeners), and the Prelude is a letter from the man who discovered the texts from which the LOTW Trilogy comes. Hoping to finish that in a week or two, but keep your eyes and ears out! ![]() All in all, some good stuff happening. Thanks for your support guys! |
