He is collaborating with Hans Zimmer on the score for the whole movie. (Like TDKR)

Could someone please tell me what the first song on this video is? It's on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember it.
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
I'd love to hear something as heartfelt and inspirational as this song SOMEWHERE in the movie.

That's "My Name is Lincoln" from Jablonsky's score for The Island.

Of course. But Zimmer/Nolan went the Williams route, where some "situation" themes were also used for characters.

Jablonsky did that??? Wow! It sounds so different than his work on Transformers. His TF stuff sounds kinda generic and uninspired. Jablonsky needs to go back to that kinda sound!

First piece is by Lisa Gerrard called Elegy while the second piece of music is from the Elizabeth: Golden Age soundtrack.

I was expecting something that will surpass or atleast match the epic-level of the Jon William's theme.. I guess it will be really very difficult to top or to even match it..
can't wait for what Hans is doing for the movie theme tho. |

I'm confident what Hans comes up with will suit this version of Superman.

I didnt mind the opening music with Gerrard, but the choral-stuff once the trailer kicks into gear really is pretty generic. Hate to be a drag, but it just sounds like the typical trailer stock-music. Very computerized choir even.
I hope it's no indication and that Zimmer will knock it outta the park and into the next galaxy. We need music that fits the pictures and the fresh new angle of MOS.

It seems that people have already put Williams' Superman music on the new trailer less than 24 hours since it's been released. This is a sign that Zimmer's definitely going to have a hard time trying to erase the Williams theme/score out of most of the GA's memory. VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Only to fans of the Donner-movies I believe. I'm a fan, but seriously think this music and these pictures are a world apart. It's degrading for both actually. Useless.

And I wouldn't take it as a sign of anything. Remember the video of all the people at the con complaining about the trunkless suit? There are always going to be fans that want to maintain the status quo. It isn't any indication of how the public at large is going to react. |

Yeah the Williams tune doesn't work to those images at all. Not matter how fantastic they are on their own.
Oh and the first piece of music in the trailer is composed by Zimmer and Gerrard. So there is some Zimmer in the trailer, just not original for the film.

The Williams score works better on the bottom video because there was an actual attempt to match the music with the scenes, but still doesn't convey the same emotion. You can tell by what's happening in the scenes that it doesn't fit.
I do secretly wish though that they would put some nugget of the fanfare in the score, just a little snippet. You know. |

Guys, you know how this goes. Hans will find a couple notes that goes well together and we all will be happy.
Hans borrowed 4-5 notes from one of the previous Batman films for some parts of his TDK Trilogy score, and I hope he'll do like this with MOS - just find something that sounds and feels like an extension of the original score. As long as there will be a brass section in MOS, then I'm sure I'll feel content. |
