Strange since WB's behind both. But yeah, the MOS-trailer started right after the countdown ended. That whole viral was just perfectly executed.

I'm glad to see others share a similar mindset in regards to the trailer as me. I didn't take it as moody and dark, either. Rather, Pa Kent fears for his son because he knows how harsh the world can be even under the best circumstances. Imagine Clark's life if his powers are revealed before he's ready to face the challenge. It would be too much, both for Clark and his parents. Pa Kent isn't telling Clark to let people die, but to realize that once he starts down that road, there's no going back.

But the choice is left for Clark to make and clearly, he becomes Superman. That means that he's at least reconciled some of his dilemma. And let's face it, being that powerful would pose issues for nearly anyone, even someone as good as Clark. And he still looks for our approval, as the trailer's end shows. But Superman does come to fruition. And how can that be seen as bleak?

The Man of Steel trailer and Star Trek 2 teaser are much more effective than Pacific Rim. Rim's trailer was okay but I don't understand why some geeks are so excited over it.

I always thought that it was a good trailer but the Man of Steel's trailer has been growing on me even more.

Well, some of the footage was certainly impressive. But a lot of it felt unnecessary. That moaning / singing stuff is getting old.

Also, what's with Pa Kent? They make him seem like a callous ******.

Don't know if it has been discussed, but the scene where Supes falls to his knees he seems to spit black'ish blood? Maybe it's the effect from kryptonite poisoning?

That opening shot of Clark Kent in the water...is it a suggestion that Clark is a Jesus Christ figure, like Neo's final pose in The Matrix Revolution?

I saw the trailer and while there are parts that I like, I think they went a bit too far in Clark's brooding over his powers, and the bleak and stark cinematography used in the movie made it as if this is a movie about Superman's angst-ridden struggle with who he is and what he looks for. It really has Chris Nolan's signature written all over it. There is no scene in the trailer where I think John Williams' classic score would've been great in the background, quite frankly.

Yeh,I was wondering if it was just a serious beat down from Faora or Zod/mocap,with some army attacking him as well,but maybe they do use kryptonite on him.

I posted this in another thread but i'll post it here too... that scene is apparently according to a buddy of mine who rarely gets scoops since he's rather low on the food chain...

He tells me that some of those severe beat down blows/punches and kicks he receives are from Faora... she targets specific aspects of his Kryptonian anatomy and also really just nearly kills him in a straight up bare knuckle brawl due to her clearly superior fighting skill and she's much much stronger than she appears but Antje in general looks pretty damn strong, toned and fit anyways and has been working out quite a lot for this film.. That said my source wasn't 100% clearly buying into the info he received but still he's pretty confident.

I can't believe people didn't want to see him rebooted as a villain when it was first announced. don't hear those arguments too much anymore though.
After getting successful reboots of villains such as Joker, Two-Face and Bane, I can't wait to see more Zod.

im not worried about the "maybe" line from pa kent. first of all, those lines of dialogue may not be consecutive in the actual film. it may have just been edited that way to create a narrative for the trailer. trailers do that a lot.

secondly, if it is how the lines actually play out, the context of it could just be Jonathan helping clark see all the options available in order to make the right decision.

but i highly doubt Jonathan would ever actually entertain the idea to let people die if there was a way to stop it....unless the writers of the movie really just have a complete misunderstanding of the character.
