i'm about to read the book for the third time.

i like how the movie poster is reminiscent of the original green covered edition of the book (which is the one i have)

Loved the book, loved the movie. You're definitely gonna see this on lots of end of year lists. I know it's on mine lol. It didn't break any BO records (limited releases throughout) but it was a hit with fans and audiences alike. So glad, could have easily been ruined.

I think the DVD comes out in January if I'm not mistaken.

I love, love, love this film. Went to see it for Emma, who was great, and ended up loving every last bit of it. Ended up seeing it 4 times in theaters.

It hits blu-ray and DVD on Feb. 12.

i've read the book 3 times and i've seen it once because it was so far away to see and in select theatres.

loved Lerman as Charlie and Ezra as Patrick. I wish they had more of the storylines with Charlie's family (ie: parents, the Mia storyline, grandpa)

i know they couldn't put it all in there, but i wouldve liked to see more family stuff

I think they could of got more in there. It is a relatively short film. I definitely wanted more with his sister. When he calls her at the end, the concern is written all over her face. It is kind of heartbreaking.

i really liked that scene albeit different from the book. but yeah, he has great storylines in the book with his sis and they were pretty much ignored, which is a shame i think it couldve made the film even better

After seeing the film I start looking up the original book to see what might have been cut, and yeah there seemed to be a lot of material that would have worked great in the context of the film that was made.

This was beautiful... my favorite of the year.

Weird, that my last four yearly favs are;

'09 (500) Days Of Summer
'10 Blue Valentine
'11 The Beginners
'12 Perks Of Being A Wallflower

...all very honest films about life, love, and friendships.

I also love The Beginners. I don't know if Perks is my #1, but it is definitely in my top 5 and one of my favorites I know I will keep going back to.

I read that a lot of the stuff left out of the movie was actually filmed but just didn't make the cut because it made the film TOO depressing. And I read they'll be the deleted scenes on the DVD. So yay lol!

I know I'm very late but I just watched this.

I normally view films from just an entertainment perspective and rarely feel truly connected to films much anymore but this blew me away. What a wonderful wonderful film. Very well told, superbly acted and just so heartfelt.

Being 19 it's pretty much bang on for my age group and I can relate to a lot of it (especially the "how the hell did those two people get together?" aspect of the film) but wow. I know people have picked out Watson and Miller for their performances but as a trio they were fantastic and seemed like true friends. And looking at some stuff online apparently they did indeed all become good friends.

Also the first film I've seen post-Potter for Watson (outside of This is the End) and am glad that she clearly can go on to bigger things.

I can not praise this film enough. A brilliant little gem that really didn't have a misstep and that everyone will likely relate to. Such a shame that most people I know would look at the title, look at the poster and think it is some chick-flick. It really isn't.

Easily a 5/5.

Such a great film. And I knew Lerman was a good actor. He can become great. I would've loved him as Peter Parker in TASM.

That would be a waste of a perfectly good actor in a mediocre movie (much like Garfield and Stone)

I saw Perks and yes, it was a great movie. I remember I wasn't too crazy about the cinematography though. It was filmed in digital right?

Yeah, I really like this one, quite lovely. Innocent; yet strong. Hopeful; yet bittersweet.

I am pretty sure it was. The film suffers for it and it isn't the prettiest blu-ray I have, but I still love it.

On another note, I really, really wish they had left his sister's side plot in the film. Watching it in the extras, it is pretty great and would have just added to the film imo. My one problem with the film is that it really does zoom by.

That's the thing with digital: When it's not done right, it has this weird 'murky' look. Iron Man 3 suffered from that look too.

I haven't read the book but I really liked this movie. It felt very "real" and the characters seemed like actual people and actual high schoolers (which isn't the most common thing in movies).
