i really really really need for the original x-men coming to the present to be just an arc or two type storyline..then send them packing with a mind wipe by (their timeline's professor x, hell, he's got this many secrets, why not another?)...but that is just my own personal whining and complaining.
oh and as far as the re-population of the mutant race...YAY! (fyi: you STILL will only see the same characters you've been seeing since mutants were depowered in the first place)

Wait a minute... Wouldn't bringing the original team into the future alter the history of the team as a whole? The Dark Phoenix saga? Beast's first mutation and the Angel's transformation into Archangel? If this is not a short term storyline and somehow the old team gets sent back in time with no knowledge of the future the entire story has a huge hole in it. Unless the old team is from a different timeline all together.

New mutants emerging but it looks like the girl isn't quite happy to find she is a mutant.

I think we've established by this point that Marvel time is not linear. You jump forward or backward in time, and an alternate timeline is created. So whatever the O5 see in 2012 will never have happened to the their original timeline b/c they diverged.

Maybe that's the point. The present x-men's history is already done, the past is in the past. What Beast is trying to do is change the O5 x-men's future by letting them see and know what will happen. At the same time adult Cyclops gets to see who he used to be. Hopefully we will see why they stay, whether it be by accident or they decide to stay. Bendis is juggling a lot.

I have a feeling Bendis is going to do the Magneto/Xavier thing with the 2 Cyclops. Young Cyclops taking the JG School and present Cyclops running his own school or facility too.

So I'm guessing the vehicles and weapons in the convoy weren't metal...and Cyclops must have gotten a power boost from the Phoenix (hence his new visor to come?)

At first when I heard about this I was thinking that past O5 must have at least most of their experiences from the present wiped out when they eventually return to their time since them going into the past with everything they've learned would change events too much, it'd be a total reboot for the X-Men and can't see Marvel doing that... If they retained their memories then Archangel's eventual ascension, Beast's transformation and Phoenix saga and Cyclops' recent development would all be washed away... Marvel couldn't do that so what's the point of this story if O5 will eventually forget everything... But then I thought that at least this will (hopefully) have lasting effects on the present versions of the characters (and maybe some very, very minimal on the past versions)
I must admit that given how many hate Bendis I was a little reserved and still am but now that I've read the first two issues I think that the series could be better but it's okay and has interesting possibilities so I'm interested enough to keep on reading... at least for now but we'll have to see how this goes... |

This comic is so much fun. I love it. It has that feel as the Avengers that just came out....that it is bigger than just your average comic IMO. I like the old costumes, writing and twists.
And Cyclops is just a jerk-face. Using the Weapon X facilities for his base? Yeah, Logan's gonna love that. Punk. |
