It is an incredibly slow paced film, and I think you have to be in exactly the right kind of focused mood to watch it and really be absorbed. I was lucky, I happened to be ready for immersing myself in something like that... a lot of the time I get distracted before a movie even starts and i'm only half watching
![]() If you can't be bothered to watch the whole thing, or for anyone's reference who hasn't seen the film, here is the above mentioned scene... It's a fine example of Shannon's acting. Perfect transition from menacing lunatic to vulnerable family man in a matter of seconds. VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Hell yeah. I just wished they'd kept Michael Wincott. The test-scene rocked!
Boy, I hope Zod has several sides to himself and not just being a brainwashed soldier. I wanna see Shannon play on several keys here. I hope to feel a certain amount of empathy for Zod as well as I hope he has a slightly humorous side to him. Not much but just a little of Shannon's deadpan humour.

Ok so finished Take Shelter, ill be honest it wasn't for me Shannon's performance was engaging though HD I actually felt there were several good performances in the film but in the end I was pretty bored mostly.
Edit: Shannon's berserker rage was way cool though

The Iceman looks really good. When does that come out?
I agree we need to see a multi-faceted Zod in this film. I think his scenes with Jor-el will help flesh out his character though. I have high hopes, Shannon is very talented and he has my full confidence. Now I just want to see more of him....maybe in the next trailer. |

So, regarding Zod: anybody thinking that maybe he doesn't fly, or at least not right away. In the trailer, at the moment where he and Supes are flying at each other by the side of the building, you can see that Zod is actually LEAPING off the building towards Superman.
Perhaps his powers aren't fully developed (a downside of not being exposed to yellow sun radiation his entire life), and that's why he needs a battle suit.

Shannon is an actor that does a slow burn to his insanity. Even in that Premium Rush flick where he and JGL were kinda slumming it, his villain was just bubbling under the surface.

A part of me is wondering at the moment on why Zod and Faora would even need spaceships to travel around Earth once they arrive; I mean, if Faora is strong enough to kick Superman's ass at some point in the film, then it'd be reasonable to assume that she should have been able to develop the ability to fly, let alone with Zod.

The smaller ships we seen in the trailer, got to be military ships. Why would zod and faora depend on powers to get around when they use to the ships. Why would they come to earth and abandon their way of doing things just because they gain super powers.
It would make them more interesting if they don't rely on superpowers.I think they'll use the same high tech weaponry and military tactics that they used back on krypton, of course the super powers will come into play.I just think the superpowers will be a added bonus. |

^ He does.
I'm not a big fan of the Donner/Lester Superman films but besides Reeve's performance and the inventive and still effective flight scenes I always really dug the Zod performance. It is over the top and a bit campy but it is fun, interesting and entertaining. I hope Shannon can create something half as memorable.

Either that or propelled by the suit somehow but yeah I'm of the same opinion that Zod may not be able to fly. I'm just unsure why Zod would need battle armour to take on Superman whereas Faora appears not to from what we've seen so far.
Also does anyone know if the picture of MS with a walking stick on set was because he got injured shooting or whether it is part of a scene in the movie? I'm wondering if the battle suit is because Zod has an injury he sustained in the destruction of krypton or when on Black Zero. Even though the yellow sun can repair injuries maybe it doesn't work for previous injuries. |

Maybe he just wears a battle suit because, oh, I dunno... he's about to go to battle with another super-powered being and a guy in armor has an advantage over an unarmored guy in combat?

I think he can. It looks to me like he's hovering over the earth in the face shot of him the the trailer.
