Stay in the bubble where $1B is "easy." I'll stick with reality.

Hey guys Hope everyone's Holiday was fantastic.
![]() I've been reading and reading and re-reading posts from all over the web and I have to say... I am in utter shock at how many fans and Non-fans out there excited for this movie. Since trailer 2 they've come out of the wood works. I mean it's so unreal. It's Amazing. I think if Bond can do 1Bill directly after a 007 four years prior that, lets face it, was not a bond movie, so can Superman. I mean seriously, I didn't realize how bad people have been aching for a really good Superman movie.

This billion talk is silly, especially now this early. A billion almost never comes easy, even TDKR hasn't made that much over a billion and it had all the hype in the world plus batman! Sure 3D can help but it only does so much.
I'm thinking WB has a goal of over $600m and anything over will be a bonus. Superman is not a proven thing like Bond also who has always been huge overseas, the same can be said for spider-man too to a lesser extant. |

It's not about doubt, it's about reality. The Amazing Spider-Man fanboys had the same ridiculous billion talk and they were dead wrong and anybody predicting it here will be dead wrong as well. A billion is never easy, if it were every big budget movie would make that much. The crappy release date will hinder any records or billion dollar grosses. And the fact that it is a reboot.
Expecting a billion is a set up for crushing disappointment.

Only 3 superhero/comicbook movies have ever hit $1 billion and two of them happened this year. For MOS to do it with all of its factors is highly unlikely. If I would pick one it would be IM3.

That along with good reviews from the moviegoing public and critics would make it a win.
The Nolan name and the expanded overseas market along with 3D ticket prices should get the movie 300mil atleast, personally I'm thinking 350-375mil and wouldn't be shocked if it made over 400mil. Now lets give it atleast Superman Returns ticket price inflated gross of about 240 in the states and add in expensive 3D ticket prices but take away money because reboots have to build audience good will so they never brake records and or reach their full potential and you have the movie doing about 265mil total. COMBINED I say 615-640mil. Assuming the movie isn't another Green Lantern quality wise. These are just early musings so don't take me at all seriously.

Same here. $1B is a pipe dream.
Now a well-received sequel, on the other hand... |

Flashback to December 2011, how many people would've bought the notion that a James Bond film would make a billion worldwide? Lo and behold, Skyfall is within a breathing distance of that milestone. I'm not saying it will definitely happen, but we shouldn't completely subscribe to the idea that it is only a dream.

Like i mentioned in my previous post Bond always had a huge overseas following. The same for spider-man as well. Superman is a wild card nobody really knows how popular the character is with people right now?
Probably not too much seeing as the last good superman flick came out in the early 80's, so this film has to sell superman to the public. Bond as a character can sell himself. |
