I don't care how bad it bombed, John carter deserves a sequel! The only thing that's kept that movie from being considered a modern classic is the lack of money.

It's also missing a legion of people who actually regard it a great movie.

Maybe not very unpopular but let's try anyway.
I really liked "Troy." (Haven't seen it in a while though so I don't know how well it has aged.)

I agree. Sure they Disney-fied the end of the movie, but I still want more.

Funny how the movies that usually get panned end up being my DVD favorites.

I liked it a lot too. It's one of those rare ones where Sean Bean DOESN'T die. In fact, I think he's one of the few main characters that survives. Eric Bana is awesome in it. Can't say the same for Orlando Bloom. Not really a fan of the director's cut, though. During the fight between Hector and Achilles, they inexplicably use music from Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes and it's really distracting. I always wanted a spinoff Odyssey film starring Sean Bean.

I liked Troy a lot, too. I don't think it's amazing, but it's underrated. Some great action (Hector v. Achilles is fantastic), good acting (Bana, O'Toole, etc.), and good visuals. Seems like a lot of people bash it for getting rid of the Gods, but I don't really care. It's just a different adaptation of the story, and I like it.

In another unpopular opinion, I don't care for No Country for Old Men. I don't care if it's intentional, the ending pissed me off, and I have no desire to ever watch it again. I didn't even really care for the character of Anton. Never got why everyone says he's so scary and intimidating. Bardem gives a good performance, of course, but the character didn't do much for me. Neither did the movie.

I thought Brad Pitt was great as Achilles. Troy is a good film , I'm surprised it's not more popular.

Once I realized it was a sword-and-sandal epic straight from the 50's and 60's (It's written, directed, and acted exactly like those movies), only made today...well, I didn't suddenly love it, but I was able to overlook most of its flaws and accept it on those terms.

I didn't really like Inglorious Basterds. That may have been based on expectations; from the ad campaign, I expected it to focus on Aldo Rayne and the guys, so I was confused when it turned out they were barely in the movie and a few of them didn't even get lines. And why is Hugo killed off halfway in after being set up so carefully at the beginning? Things like that just threw me off, so I didn't enjoy it as much as most. (But I looooooved Django Unchained.)

I kinda like Sam Worthington. I couldn't really explain why, maybe he just has that old-school action hero badass vibe to him. I'll admit most of the movies he's in aren't exactly good (and the ones that are good, like say Avatar, aren't good because of him), but I don't want him to go away.

I get the feeling what Worthington needs is an old school action movie. Maybe something similar to Dirty Harry. A character says has few words and speaks with his gun.

WOrthington wouldve been perfect for Mad Max I think. I expect Hardy to be great too, but the common complaints I hear about Worthington are: He can really emote, he seems really rigid, and he can't do an accent. All of those are perfect for Mad Max.

He wouldnt need to show many emotions and he could do it in his natural accent. AS I said, I think Hardy will do great, but FUry Road really seemed perfect for Worthington. And this is from a guy who really likes him

Wait, Tom Hardy is the new Mad Max? Awwwwww.

I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I just cannot buy Tom Hardy as a 'bad ass'. He's a fine actor and all, but he has such a friendly face. I could see him in a romantic comedy no problem, however he continues to get action hero roles.

Sam Worthington is a darn fine action hero, although I've yet to like any of his films. Terminator Salvation was alright. I'd have much preferred him as Mad Max.

Avatar wasn't a very good movie and definitely doesn't need a (let alone multiple) sequels.

And I don't think Avengers is anything special. It was TF3 with superheroes for me.

Batman Begins is the only good Batman film I've ever seen(which is all of them).

I enjoyed The Pick of Destiny and I hope there's another Tenacious D film in the future (not holding my breath though.)

Jack Black said they probably wont ever do another D movie, because of how much Pick of Destiny flopped. They weren't even planing on doing a new album, so it's good we at least got that.

Im not a huge fan of the original. I never really watched it until the movie came out and they showed reruns on sci fi.

But I do think the decision to turn it into a comedy was good. If they played it straight, I think it wouldve gotten unfavorable Batman comparisons. I just think Rogen wasnt really right for the role

I think they shouldve gone mroe comedic kind of like what they did with 21 Jump Street. Especially when you have Seth Rogen in the cast

I might be in the minority but I really liked Worthington in Avatar.
I would have loved to see Eric Bana as Max though.

I've heard a lot of people say that 1985 was the best year for film. I disagree. It pales in comparison to 1994. Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, The Lion King, Clerks, The Crow, Dumb and Dumber (yes, even that), Ed Wood, The Professional...
