I love both Perkins and Garfield. He should have so played Norman Bates in "Hitchcock."

I agree, but James D'Arcy is so spot on in the film it's crazy.

You've nicked that off Kevin Smith!

He was in a direct to video Addams Family movie, but he wasn't in the theatrically released movies (the good ones).

This is actually something I realised some 15 yrs ago. But as amusing as it's now, it was quite a weird experience back then.

On the telly they showed a film adaptation of Heart of Darkness (the classic Conrad novel), and I think Tim Roth had one of the starring roles.

However, I came in to the movie during that long ride along the river. After a while I felt that the scenarios were very familiar, and all of a sudden I went: Wow, this story is exactly like Appocolypse Now!

I've known about the Conrad novel since high school, but never read it. I'd watched Apocalypse Now in like late 80's/early 90's, but strangely enough I've never heard that the story actually was inspired/based on Heart of Darkness.

It's safe to say that people around me that I mentioned this to back then went: Duh, you didn't know that..?

Yeah, I'd think that it was what somewhat common knowledge, at least among people who know both the novel and movie.

Fun fact: the documentary about the making of Apocalypse is called Heart of Darkness.

The Dark Knight: Batman on the Batpod has a stand off with The Joker while driving towards him and The Joker takes his gun, shoots, and Batman crashes the Batpod.

I wonder now if this was a Nod from Nolan to Batman 89.

In Batman 89 Joker and his goons are wrecking the art museum to the tune of some Prince tracks but the Joker stops one of his men from slashing one of the paintings saying something like, "I like that one."

The painting he saves is Francis Bacon's "Figure with Meat."

Cut to The Dark Knight: The Joker issues a video in which he taunts Brian Douglas, one of the fake batmen (and the head of Citizens for Batman in the viral campaign, blew my mind when I first saw the film since I recieved a package from him a few days earlier).

The joker has Dogson sitting on the ground with slabs of meat hanging behind him. Just like Bacon's "Figure with Meat."

Check the clip.

Nolan's other films also have references to Francis Bacon, explicitly so in Inception which features one of Bacon's paintings in the the dream at the beginning of the film.

Dom explains that Saito is fond of post ww2 british painters.

According to several interviews this summer one of the original jumping off points for Bane's mask design was another Bacon painting of a baboon.

It's clear that Chris Nolan himself is a big fan of Francis Bacon and has incorporated his work into several of his films. Surly he had to have known that Figure with Meat was featured in Batman before. If not, that is the weirdest coincidence.

Very interesting indeed

Also Nolan on The Joker in TDK:
"Certainly visually, with the makeup, I always had the idea of Francis Bacon paintings and I showed those to Heath and showed those to John Caglione who did the makeup. We were looking at smearing and smudging and caking the makeup on him, doing it in ways that we could degrade the look through the film. But really I think what he's done is very unique. You can see different influences. You can see Alex in A Clockwork Orange. You can see a Francis Bacon paintings or the punk sort of influence, but I think there's a very unique combination that he's made from those."

Cuba Gooding Jr has a miniscule non-speaking role in Coming to America. He's in the barber's chair in the first barber shop scene, when they're arguing about Muhammad Ali's name.

The receptionist from Ferris Bueller's Day Off played one of the mean girls in Carrie. She was also the car insurance agent from Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

I thought that Skud from Blade II was the kid who played John Carter in T2. Looked it up, found out he's played by one of "The Boondock Saints."

You mean John Connor?

And the actor from T2 is Edward Furlong, guy from Boondocks/Blade II (and Walking Dead ahem) is Norman Reedus. I guess I can see the similarities though.

I only just realized that Julian Glover was villains in movies like Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and The last Crusade, James Bond's For Your Eyes Only even though I've seen all those movies.

I didn't realize he was the same guy. I also didn't realize he was in Game Of Thrones.

Taylor Kitsch is in Snakes On A Plane, I didn't realize it at first since he's the first to die and of course he wasn't known at the time of the movie release.
