Btw, Jaqua99, Comic Loki was awesome vs Surtur btw, tricking and sassing and fighting this GIANT fire demon! I don't understand though, why if he's not scared of Surtur like this, do you think he'd be so scared of and wouldn't mess with Thanos?

Because maybe they made avengers Thanos more powerful, MCU Thanos, I mean. Maybe not. It doesn't matter. Cause Thanos is definitally more dangerous. His intellect is his best weapon, he is literally a UNIVERSAL threat as long as he lives. Maybe in the MCU Thanos has had a historic bad past, making it known he is a universal threat, and dangerous. And maybe Loki knew about who he was, and knew that he was so dangerous

lol it's a bit different though. Thanos and Loki have never met in 616, and Thanos stands for the death of all things un a multiversal scale, he's a bit more than playing with fire, and given Thanos' intellect, and Loki's game, it is completely acceptable for Loki to be a bit weary of Thanos lol

In fact, I have always considered Loki to be like a Thanos lite

I continue to be intrigued by that tear when he says "sentiment" and puts on a smile and then stabs Thor. In the second one that line down from eye to cheek is where that tear ran down his cheek while he stabs Thor. You can still see his eyes seem teary. My feeling is the smile he puts on is the lie, but the tear betrays his true feelings. Thor is finally getting to him. He doesn't want to do this but he has to for whatever reason, and it touches him that his brother is still trying to convince him to come back to the fold, but he thinks it's too late now, or he doesn't feel he has a choice.

I would agree. It's very intriguing.

I wonder where Loki will be on this point in Thor2. Would he still be inclined to shed a tear if a similar situation comes up? Or will he be too angry/bitter? Or will he turn a corner?

I think that Loki is a very mercurial character in that you can't really gauge what he's going to do next. He basically flip flops all over the place depending on what benefits his circumstance the most, like in Avengers when he accepts Tony's offer for a drink after he sees he's failed when previously he was threatening him when he thought he was holding all the cards.

*Edit* I was thinking of this as I was eating an apple but I think Loki's main obstacle is not really so much Thor and Odin though in his mind they might be the main sources of his insecurity but actually coming to terms with his own masculinity. Let's face it when you are in a familial position and skill set which is in odds with the more direct physicality of his adopted home that Loki has you too would question just how dominant a male you are. The moment Loki casts aside all self doubt and rejects the stigma attached with his ability to use magic he will gain enough self pride in himself to be comfortable with his stature as a strong dominant male.

yeah, Loki is beyond being a "good guy" and he knows it.

I think his "its too late" was legitimate. and it wasn't just for the battle, but it was for everything. Its too late to redeem myself, I've screwed up enough, i've made alliances with dark people, this is who I am now, and it's too late. His bitterness and anger comes that, and probably only worsens around thor, which maes sense...

and Elizah...^ I guarentee that has something to do with his army of minions :P

That's from scrubs, and if you mean Hiddles/Loki fangirls, yes I'm sure, good for them and good for him. You wish you had some fangirls like that.

However wouldn't you say that the fact that he does have that tear there, means that it really isn't too late? If he's still got enough in him to shed a tear and be touched by his brothers' continued "sentiment" towards him, then there is likely still something in there that IS redeemable. Otherwise that tear wouldn't be there, just the creepy smile.
