Pretty much agree with you. First episode where I found myself kind of getting bored.

Again, the best parts were between Ollie & Dig.I liked the way they took their time getting Ollie back in the saddle after the beating he took last episode. The island scenes were ok.Solid,if not overly exciting episode. 8/10 |

Out of all the characters, Dinah is in the main storyline and Oliver is involved in it through her. Both Thea and Diggle played their roles in getting through to both Oliver and Moira after their separate ordeals back in Year's End. We see Tommy in his new job as General Manager of Oliver's nightclub and the debut of Batman villain Firefly, whom could have been used more to be a bigger threat to Oliver and Starling City. It was pretty cruel for Detective Lance to use Dinah to get to Oliver. Mainly this episode is about the aftershocks of Year's End and a good episode to come back with.

Enjoyed this episode far more than the previous ones, didn't find it boring. The pacing was a lot better and the dialogue felt more natural.
"I'll look into it." got a good laugh out of that one.

What a utter waste of a potential recurring villain once again. WTF! If they're going to continue to butcher DC villains they'll run out of cool villains to use on the show for season 2 and 3.

Honestly I didn't mind the treatment they gave firefly, he's not exactly nemesis material, I mean, he just sets sh** on fire lol. I just not think the character would have a whole lot of replay value, so I'm fine that they used him as a one off, which worked here because the main theme of the episode was Ollie finding his drive again. He set needed a work out, and firefly gave him that.

Pretty sure Firefly's the only one that's dead.

The only one you can make a case for is Drakon. But eh, whatever.
Deadshot will be back in episode 16, as will China White, Merlyn's still around, Deathstroke is still TBD, Vertigo hasn't shown up yet, but he definitely survives his first episode. I guess you could kind of count Huntress as a villain, she's coming back.

Not a great ep IMO but still pretty good...the bits between Ollie and Digg as well as the flashbacks continue to be the highlights for me. Firefly isn't that big a villain to begin with - so I was ok with how he was handled. Obviously he wasn't going to be called Firefly so I thought it was nice the way they worked that in with the tattoo, etc.
Next week looks good.

Enjoyable episode. Though I find myself enjoying the episodes less when I am reminded that Dinah is still around purely to run the love parts of episodes. And I know how they want all this realism but I hope they dont tone down majority of the DC villians that appear in the future. Give them a costume, they are already not right in the head anyway.

I thought this was okay. His first encounter with Firefly was really odd, he let that fireman get pushed down into the flames and took a beating like a little kid. I know he wasn't 100 percent but still, that scene just looked weird. I also thought the firebombs were a bit too much.

I thought the episode was good. I like this shows take on the DC villians. I agree with some about firefly not being that strong of a villian to keep around, but they could have kept him alive and mention him down the road making trouble for Nightwing

If they kept him alive, sent him to jail, maybe they could have used him in the Suicide Squad with souped up weapons on the show.

I do wonder why they decided to show a clip during the flashbacks that never appeared before in a episode.

I didn't really have too many problems with them killing off Firefly here. The way the character is made and his methods felt very gimmicky in that it was unconventional yet very one note and limited in how the show could use it. If he came back, he'd just be doing more of the same thing as before; which is a little repetitive and not very interesting in TV-land.

While the use of Firefly was a bit of a letdown, everything else was pretty solid.
And dang David Ramsey, send me the workout, champ. He's bigger than Amell.

I don't buy that Firefly was a "one note character".I mean, the same can be said of Mr Freeze. He had a tragic accident. Now he freezes stuff.A good writer should still be able to do something with him.
His death was so lame.Reminded me of Frankenstein in the old movies. Walking through flames until he drops dead.

I thought it was a decent re-introduction to things after the break.
The whole first encounter with Firefly saw Ollie controlled by fear I felt, was very cautious in getting down there and wasn't quick enough like he has been. Overall they paced things well and told the story to good effect. Letdown for me was Firefly's conclusion, it was so quick. He just gave up. This guy has waited a long time to get to his chief to get revenge and he decides to just kill himself. I know there's not heaps you can do with him but it was a bit anti-climatic. It was one of those episodes though where the main thing you're looking at is inner struggles. Oliver's to come back and be Arrow, his mum to snap out of things - despite it partially being her fault Walter is gone in the first place... Therefore the villain v hero aspect takes a second seat. 7/10. Next week looks really good though. |

Same goes with Arrow's version of Firefly. There wasn't really much they could do with him past this one episode. The guy's one motivation was revenge against his former colleagues and he did so by committing fire-themed murders. Short of a major revamp and introduction of a new story element, there's not much the show could do with the two aforementioned things about him. |
