I don't disagree. My love for TASM aside, I would not object to a Whedon/spidey film.

I'm sure Joss Whedon would make a good Spider-Man movie, but still not certain he would make one that's better than Raimi's or Webb's.

I think he'd make one better than Raimi's, but I do think that even Joss would have his work cut out for him to top what Webb accomplished.

lol Whedon's would shat all over both of them. A Spidey with Whedon's humor and sensibilities? It would be a perfect match that would feel right out of the comics imo. Only problem is that Whedon is mostly known for his ensemble work rather than individual character driven stories.

Obviously he can do individual stories very well. Even his work on Buffy or Firefly features episodes that focus primarily on one character.
And I never said he couldn't do better than Webb, just that he would have his work cut out for him, as I subscribe to the belief that TASM is a really great Spidey flick. Just because Joss Whedon is really good something doesn't mean everyone else automatically sucks.

I'm certain he could. But I suspect he wouldn't be able to replicate Raimi's penchant for quality camp or Webb's affinity for mediocreness.

^ I cannot disagree more about Webb's TASM. I thought it was an exceptional first entry.

As a whedon fan, i cant help but feel he would make something very similar to asm. He may have perfected the spidey wit and maybe fixed some plotholes. Doesnt mean he wouldve made a perfect movie.

imagine spidey in the avengers' final battle.
joss was great at giving each character super heroic feats to pull off. spider-man would have been in his element in the battle of new york. ah, to dream... |

There's been some talk (rumour mostly) about Sony and Marvel/Disney cutting a deal that would allow Spidey to show up in an Avengers film. Of course, I'll only believe it when I see it, but one can certainly hope.

I'm not a fan of Joss Whedon personally, though I do have a great amount of respect for him. I tried watching Buffy, but it just didn't do it for me. Angel was okay I suppose. I do plan on watching Firefly/Serenity pretty soon when I get a chance to.
He has movies like Cabin in the Woods, and now The Avengers, so I can say I'm a fan of some of his work, but I don't understand why fanboys look at him like he's a God. As if no matter what he wrote, it would come out PERFECT.

As I said earlier, I'm personally not a Joss Whedon fan. But I certainly have a lot of respect for the guy, and see that he clearly has talent. I just don't go crazy every time I see his name attached to something.
What I like: 1. Scripts for Speed, Toy Story, & X-Men. 2. The Avengers, Firefly What I dislike: 1. Scripts for Captain America: The First Avenger, Alien Resurrection, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer 2. Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (TV Series), Angel I haven't seen Serenity, Cabin in the Woods or Dollhouse

I love everything that Joss Whedon does even if I don't love it on the first or second watch like Firefly or Dollhouse, by the third or fourth, I love them so much.
Actually, I used a Joss Whedon quote to describe by problem with Webb's movie... “Make it dark, make it grim, make it tough, but then, for the love of God, tell a joke. ” I felt like the "comedy" was off and there wasn't enough of it. Stan Lee's cameo was literally the only time that my mom and I laughed aloud. |

I found Dennis Learys awkward dad/ daughter moment pretty funny.

What about Peter on the subway after getting bit by the Spider? Peter waking up and smashing his alarm clock to pieces? Peter typing on the computer and having the keys get stuck to his fingers? Peter breaking the sink in the bathroom and getting tooth paste everywhere?

Yeah those were good, but there wasn't enough of the witty Spider-Man which in the end is what everyone wanted
Andrew did his best with the delivery, but I felt that the Spidey jokes in the script just weren't that funny. To be precise, he was written like a bully jock that thinks he is funny but isn't too imaginative with his jokes and just comes off as an a**hole. Kinda makes sense for the story of the movie, but it doesn't feel like genuine Spider-Man. Again, I only mean the writing, Andrew did a great job with what he was given

So one great movie and he is suddenly a messiah?
For me nothing can beat Raimi's SM1 and SM2 |
