Default Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

A thread to discuss the 2007 movie sequel.

This should've been a better movie. The lack of a proper Galactus was one of the major problems.

Doom's armour was better in this one, but he was still a far cry from the Latverian dictator he should've been.

I liked how Johnny was able to utilise all the powers of the 4 in the end to defeat Doom, but in a way I feel that Reed should've been the one to face off against him as his mortal enemy. I didn't really like the way that Doom went down in the end though.

First off, the film was corny, not Captain America good corny, but just bad dialogue. The film's way of portraying a "Fantastic" family in modern times was alright, but there is some pretty weird writing throughout.
My pros:
Silver Surfer was awesome and I loved Lawrence Fishbourne in the deep, intelligent voice.
Special effects: Not perfect but it did look like F4 imo. And I for one was a fan of Thing's rock suit.
Potential: This film could honestly make a few sequels. It left with a cliffhanger.
Relationships/actors(Except Alba, no sexism intended): I liked the characters and how they were portrayed(personality wise)
Music
Costumes
MY GRIPES:
Sue got naked again?!!!!
They made some stupid decisions in this one and were just lost at times. Johnny didn't know what to do with all the girls/money. Reed and Sue wanted a family and all that. They all broke apart as a family too many times. The Thing was the best character in the film, imo.
Galactus: Don't make him a cloud. I understand it's more "understandable" to have a giant tornado devour a planet, but come on! Have a giant energy ship or something!
Corniness:I love corny movies for one, but this was too far. "I was in my room studying like a little nerd." "I'm so hot for you right now." Oh goodness....
Jessica Alba was too young for Sue and she got naked again?!!!
General Hager was a jerk.
I didn't like how the "fame" of the F4 was portrayed. Could we see one Bank Robbery or something?!
Doom had nothing to do.
Etc., but the F4 films still have a place in my heart.

This movie is one of those weird entities for me. Lots of things I like, lots of things I don't.

Same here....it's weird.

I liked my first viewing of this movie better than the first. YET, I enjoy the first more each time I see it, (I'm watching it right now as a matter of fact...lol)

But, even though I liked the 2nd movie better in the first viewing.....I like it less each time I see it.

Doug Jones will be among the guests at the Lexington Comic Con in March http://lexingtoncomiccon.com/ I plan on attending.

In FFROTSS........Alba just didn't look right. I don't get into Alba bashing (because I have had a crush on her for years....not as bad as someone else who used to post here, but I must admit I likes her alot)....but her hair and makeup was just wonky here. I thought she looked great in the first FF movie though.

I was extremely disappointed in Galactus. At the very least they could have shown an actual spaceship. Kelly, don't know if you remember, but I talked years ago about inserting scenes of Galactus from the animated SS series into the movie. I did some preleminary tests that actually worked a little...but got preoccupied and put it on the back burner. I need to dig that stuff out and work on it again.

Doctor Doom still wasn't right, but done a lot better than the first movie.

Is it bad that I wasn't sad that Andre Braugher's character was zapped?

OMG in the 2nd film.....good lord at the beginning of the film it was like Barbie and the F3.... I heard that after seeing that look for awhile she put her foot down and that is when we got the ponytail, softer makeup look. And then that make fiasco, stupidness of the final 3 minutes and the wedding. *shakes head* it was embarrassing. She looked great to me in the first movie, and I understand why she didn't want to do the same thing to her own hair, but damn...the wig that they used in the "fans chase Sue" scene that they shot after she cut her hair was perfectly fine, why didn't they use that one.

That piece of crap, sculpture they put on her head for the wedding was just weird. Just horrible make up people that hopefully were fired after that film.

Ha, it's pretty strange how this thread is filled with moderators.

I see no moderators in this thread?

I can say however, that my first moderating job on the hype was the old F4 forum.

Would've been cool if all those old post concurrent to those movies at the time still existed.

Oh, well it would be nice if they could be imported into this forum so that it's all there together with everything else, and people could even add to them if they wanted.

Far too many threads, and far too little time.
