I thought that in the context of all the talks about doing a modern Superman film within "realistic setting", or as some will say "Nolanised Superman" that some of you might be interested in this layman, easy to understand slide presentation by Dr. Mike Young on the mechanics of speed (in elite athletics sprinting):

https://www.slideshare.net/slideshow..._code/16085809

Fyi, I'm an athletics fan. I have seen every Olympics sprint rounds & finals live on TV since the early 1980s. I still remember clear as day the 9.79 by stanozolol-filled Ben Johnson - that race was the most testosterone-filled and cracking raw energy for me. I was not to feel similar excitement until London Olympics 100m final when a lineup of fastest men ever on record put their reputation on line.

Maybe Superman will race Usain "Lightning" Bolt in MOS 2? In similar vein to the depowered Superman vs Ali.

Did Inception have a Super Bowl ad?
As Filmnerdjamie and I were discussing earlier today, Super Bowl ads are more popular than ever. There are articles after articles talking about upcoming commercials and sites run them after the fact. Whether it be Doritos, Avengers, or Bud Light. Super Bowl ads have become part of pop culture.

It's the best way to reach the broadest of audiences. For the third time in as many years, last year's Super Bowl was most watched television broadcast ever.

Does it mean the movie won't succeed if they don't? No. I just think that is a missed opportunity to showcase the world's greatest hero.

Yep, I don't think we will get a spot. It may just be WB simply not wanting to pay the money for a 30 sec spot. But nevertheless it will be a missed opportunity.

Ah, well there ya go.
I really hope WB doesn't do what they did with GL and just throw all the promo at us the last 2 months.
I like a gradual release of promotional material, but whatever.

I'm not surprised they dont have a superbowl spot. In fact I was afraid this very thing was gonna happen. IMHO its crazy and stupid not to have one. It's the freakin superbowl for crying out loud. Even God will be watching it.

Absolutely. There will be no greater marketing opportunity than the Super Bowl and with all the buzz the film is getting from the trailer why wouldn't you build and expand on that?

It boggles the mind. I guess we can all talk about the Iron Man 3 spot...or The Lone Ranger.

It really is WB being cheap and not wanting to pay for a spot. Whatever.

Sure it's a missed opportunity, but I'm thinking WB doesn't feel it's worth shelling out that kind of money for one commercial when that money can be used for multiple ones at a later date and I doubt many people won't see MOS because they don't know it exists. Maybe, for now, it's company policy to not bother with Super Bowl ads for any film.

Well you hit a broader audience at the Super Bowl. 3 Million people watching Arrow isn't the same thing.

Me personally, I'm not really worried about one of the biggest studios in the world shelling out 3 to 4 million dollars, but sure, I can see them coming to that decision.

Disney is going to throw out a spot for either Iron Man 3 or Oz, which I think is a good way to go.

Yeah, I understand that.

I'm just assuming their bean counters haven't found a strong and positive correlation between Super Bowl ads and a film's box office success that they like. Thus, no ads for any WB films during the Super Bowl because they feel it's not really worth it.

Wait so it has been confirmed that WB won't have spots this year?

Usually film sites/blogs get a list of the studio's who are participating or not. I don't think that has been released yet unless I missed it.

Which is very possible, and I am sure they think like that. You're right.

Not surprised. Disappointed, as was really hoping for one, but they haven't done one for any of their movies in years, so yeah, not exactly shocking.
