Batman Begins because was the beginning of a new trend, a new era of comic book movies, and because he had Batman & Robin behind.. Man of Steel has to clear people's mind from Superman Returns..so they had to start from..you know, at least, something.. |

Honestly, if we just had a few photos showing other characters, then I wouldn't be bothered by the current flow of things. This film has a incredible cast attached to it and it wouldn't hurt the studio to capitalize and show that with envy.

Well, aren't those two films though coming out in May? By the time MOS comes out, they would have had roughly a month's worth of having been in the theaters; if anything, its Monsters University that MOS should be worried about.

Batman only did okay worldwide but did 200 mil domestic which was twice that of Batman and Robin. Begins also got great reviews. The Superbowl spot could of only helped to bring in people that would have written the movie off. And John Carter was a snoozefest and got poor word of mouth.

Then it shouldn't be that big of a deal if there's a Super Bowl spot or not. It has to be a quality movie leading to good reviews to good word of mouth.

I mean, I believed all three of those films were great in quality and had good worth of mouth, but I'm very perplexed on how those films never made it to the 400 Mark when so many other films of lesser quality and WOM did make it and even pass it. It's just a theory based on the fact that the woman was listed as playing that character in IMDB; and honestly, I think the whole idea is kind of outrageous, let alone on how people are buying into it so easily, but then again, I shouldn't be one to quickly pass judgment since I have been easily fooled on other things.lol Nevertheless, if a "New version" of Jimmy Olsen was going to be in this film, then they would have announced it ages ago, and plus, I see no reason why they would need to change the character into a woman. |

Well, I'm calling it right now, but my men's intuition tells me that we will go yet another day without any real news or new (exciting) photos to look at regarding the film.

Batman Begins came out during a different time, one where CB based movies weren't ridding as high as today. Nolan was pretty much a non-factor and an unknown to a wide audience. Batman also had B&R before that (a film much much worse than SR which really isn't a negative for MOS as much as the haters want to believe) but it also had a GREAT Batman movie out just 16 years before that (compared to 33 years for MOS) and to many people outside of fanbase, Batman Begins didn't really look all THAT much different or (more importantly) better than Batman 89. Not to mention the weak marketing for that film (something MOS might just share) and the fact that internet wasn't as much of a factor in spreading the word then as it is now. Twitter didn't exist in 2005 and both FB and YT were young. BB also wasn't a film with huge CGI destruction going on, courtesy of super powered beings. That is why I don't understand when sometimes people bring up BB as supposed proof as to why MOS isn't going to bring in good money. Moving on to X:FC. A fifth X-Men movie in 11 years. Last two being meh to crap. An X-Men movie with no name power that didn't really brake the mold of the previous films all that much. And it wasn't really an epic film huge in scope which MOS will be (I just hope they let the general public know that, lol). And X-Men themselves aren't really first tier characters. And Star Trek? Well that franchise was DEAD when the movie came out. Literally. The hurdles ST had to overcome were much bigger than anything MOS has to. Given the circumstances, Star Trek was a big success. I think MOS has more going for it than against it but one thing that it may have against it (WB's genius marketing division) might just severely damage it's BO potential. A SB spot couldn't hurt, only help. It's not like they're spending the money anywhere else. Just my two cents... |

i think the problem with reboots to dying franchises is no matter how good the film is,word of mouth, trailers, etc. general audiences are just always gonna be apprehensive with the "well last movie sucked" mentality
many audiences may just wait for dvd and if they really like it they will come out in droves for sequel it happened with nolan bat films also people forget it took 3 daniel craig bond films before it made any sort of domestic profit |

The fact that Skyfall did as much as it did (if there is any franchise that overstayed it's welcome long ago, it's James Bond) can only bode well for any movie, really. And Superman Returns didn't suck. This is a fact. At worst, it caused indifference. It has a 76% RT critics score and a 67% audience score out of nearly half a million votes. MOS has Nolans name, a more impressive cast than anything outside of TDK trilogy and the kind of scope and cgi action that puts people in their seats - they just haven't showed that part yet, lol. Im not saying it's going to make a fortune, but it easily has the potential to reach TASM numbers,.

^like i said it took 3 films for craig bond films to be a major hit domestically
casino royale was just as good as skyfall with a 95% on RT with great reviews and word of mouth and only made 167 million domestically it was also a dying franchise hopefully Nolan's name helps |

Well actually, I was referring to the ones who are already believing it to be a fact that Jimmy has been replaced; some that I've seen on other boards have already started making manips and are spreading the word as though its a god given fact.

Maybe but for what its worth over on the Empire Magazine's forums there seems to be a big belief that the next cover reveal this Thursday is going to feature the Man of Steel and have a big feature. I guess we'll find out in 2 days....

I can't begin to describe the look of disappointment that dawns upon my face every time I wake up a morning and see that there's no updates or newsworthy stuff to read about regarding MOS as of late. |
