Bumping this. Do you guys think it's finally time for this film?

In-universe I really see it as striking a chord. It's about hero fans wanting to be heroes. I also just think it's time and that people are ready to see new kinds of heroes. Younger than the classic heroes, varied genders, and two gay superheroes. It just seems like it could be a really important movie for those reasons and an interesting one at that due to the parallels that can be drawn. It's practically the audience.

I have had so many ideas how they can do this:

1st in the Captain Marvel film:
Carol Danvers (SWORD agent) team up with a Kree Soldier named Mar-Vell who is on the run from Yon-Rogg after Rogg tricks him into thinking the Kree are out for his blood because he fathered a child with the Skrull Princess Anelle.
So we set up that Teddy exists.

Next (or at the same time) in the Ant Man movie:
Hank Pym runs the lab funded by Mr. Van Dyne, working for Pym in the lab (directly for Pym) are Bill Foster and Scott Lang. Lang is an ex con and was given a second chance by Pym. He is also shown to have a daughter named Cassie. Later on Pym drops the Ant Man persona, joins the Avengers, and becomes Giant Man and then Yellow Jacket. While Pym is with the Avengers Lang's daughter is kidnapped forcing Lang (with Foster's help) to steal the Ant Man suit and tech and become the new Ant Man.
This sets up that Cassie Lang exists and is connected to the Ant Man legacy.

Not sure how to bring in the others like Patriot, Iron Lad, Vision (the kid version), Hawkeye.
But Bucky was experimented on with Zola's version of the Super Soldier Serum. So maybe others were as well, including Isaiah Bradley. Maybe he went on to fill the void left by Captain America's disappearance in his own way or something and passed on his super genes to his grandson Elijah who becomes the Patriot.

The movie that brings them all together could be just like the comic, Kang the Conqueror's young self brings them all together to stop Kang from destroying the past. So that brings Iron Lad into it all.

Still unsure how to bring in Speed or Wiccan. Mutants aren't part of the Marvel Avengers movie universe. And the rights to the concept may be owned by another studio, and the rights to the characters of Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and definitely Magneto aren't owned by Marvel studios.

Yeah I can definetely see it happening. People have different attitudes to gay people now than they did even four years ago because of Modern Family and Glee.

I say give it a go, maybe in a decade or a so when the current Avengers are a bit older.

I think animation would be the first step. Put them in Avengers Assemble and see the reaction. I certainly would freak out.

I think the bigger obstacle is a much simpler one: most people aren't going to take a movie about teenage superhero "sidekicks" ( yes, they aren't actually. . . but given the kid hero names and identities, they will totally be perceived as such ) seriously. Runaways would be a *much* easier sell.

I think Drake Bell would be good as Wiccan, but if he's okay with playing a gay is the question.

Now that teen titans has been announced I definitely think marvel should move ahead with this.

I know it's a bit tricky because of canon stuff (for example Elizabeth is too young to play Billy's mum) but that can be worked around by saying he's from the future.

It's such an easy sell and it would be amazing and inspiring and way more relevant than teen titans

It will also depend on whether or not Cassie Lang is in Ant-Man and how old they are portraying her. I think it might be pre-mature to do Young Avengers. I think doing someting like Runaways, Power Pack, or even New Warriors that wasn't so beholden to where the Avengers are in their lives would work better just to not have the baggage.

I think that this would be the perfect show for Netflix or even ABCFamily.

They can do it very easily. I would skip out on Cassie right now because that wouldn't work. Now how to get around the Billy and Tommy aren't born yet thing? When Iron Lad puts the team together he grabs Billy and Tommy from the time stream.

Right now I don't think this would really work. Cassie's too young. Marvel doesn't have the rights to Kang, so Iron Lad wouldn't work either. Wiccan and Speed could appear, but they couldn't be related to Scarlet Witch in the way they are in the comics yet, as she's only just introduced and barely knows Vision. The source of Patriot's power obviously can't be MGH, as Marvel doesn't have mutants, and I think super soldier serum would cheapen CA:tFA and Agent Carter season 1. I'm not 100% sure what the case is with the rights to the Skrulls, but that may or may not give issues for Teddy.

Sorry to be a bit pessimistic here. Maybe Runaways would be a better alternative, as they have less ties to the greater Marvel universe?

I reckon runaways will definitely be one of the new franchises announced by marvel soon but I don't see why the young avengers wouldn't work.

1. Can't use kang? Just keep calling him iron lad. He might even be a good placeholder for kang since marvel can't use him (but he's too cool to pass up)

2. Cassie, Wiccan and speed can all be grabbed out of the time stream by iron lad.

3. Patriot could just be very well trained or augmented like winter soldier was
4. Didn't they mention the skrulls in guardians of the Galaxy?

1. I'm not sure that would work. He's still the same character. Especially if timetravel gets involved and it is mentioned that he'll become evil in the future.

2. They could, but I'm not sure if that'd work well on screen

3. He could, but just well trained definitely won't be enough

4. I don't think they did

If it was a film, it wouldn't happen until Phase 4 at the earliest anyway. If we say she's eight in Ant-Man (the actress is 7, so it's not a stretch), she'd be 13 by 2020 and 15 by 2022. 15 would be a good age for her in the Young Avengers, in my opinion.

You may be right about Iron Lad, but I'll be shocked if Fox holds onto the rights that long. They'll probably trade them back to Marvel for the X-Men TV show, given how terrible this Fantastic Four movie was. If he's included in the team, and is from the future in this version, Wiccan and Speed could come from a future timeline as well... Or just not be included in the movie, since they really aren't needed at this point.

As for Patriot, there's a ton of things he can use in the MCU. Personally, I'd go with an upgraded version Agents of SHIELD's Centipede. (wow, that feels like a lifetime ago.)

Finally, the Skrulls are with Marvel. We have confirmation. And even if they aren't, like I said, the rights will probably be reverting back to them anyway.

I would love a Young Avengers series because it has a lot of pontential for a show.

Oh, he was mentioned already more than eight years ago.

With recent discussions in mind, hasn't Aiken always looked ugly, stoned, creepy and "too Irish" to be Iron Lad? Even back in 2007?

They're more legacy characters, I'd say. In fact, they're a subversion of legacy characters. Of course, that comes with it's own set of problems, because there aren't all that many legacy characters around, at the moment. When people start complaining about "Iron Man-knockoff fatigue", though, that's when a YA movie should be made.

Or, they could just ignore the legacy concept entirely, and make it into a standard superhero popcorn flick, but with teens...which is probably what they'll be doing, regardless.

Hollywood never casts actual high schoolers as teens. If we do get a Runaways movie expect them to be played by actors in their late teens, early 20's at the oldest. That said, yeah, the actors in the OP's post are too old.

Young Avengers would be difficult at this point since not much groundwork has been laid yet. We still haven't met Kang, Scarlet Witch is still a teenager, Cassie Lang is a little girl, and so on. You're also probably not gonna get Vision 2.0 either.

Obviously, you could easily change up some of the origins, but this would require pretty much a wholesale rewrite across the board.

The way Marvel has been doing it is pretty good. Tom Holland is 19 and plays Spidey who would be a few years younger.
