Several months ago, Kevin Feige was asked specifically about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. He said that the film rights are complicated/open enough that BOTH Marvel Studios AND Fox can use the characters; it's just that Fox's Wanda & Pietro can't be part of the Avengers, of course, and MS's Maximoffs can't be children of Magneto. In other words, Fox gets X-Men/Brotherhood Maximoffs, and MS gets Avengers Maximoffs.

As explained by Kevin Feige, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are a unique, special case in which both Marvel and Fox have rights to Wanda and Pietro, with stipulations: Marvel cannot refer to their mutant origins/relationship to Magneto, and Fox cannot refer to their association to the Avengers.

So in theory, SW and QS could show up in both an X-film and in the MCU, and possibly even be played by the same actors (though they'd have to have separate and non-conflicting contracts with each studio).

I think the Skrulls are the only other characters with a similar (but different) situation, where Fox specifically owns the rights to the original Super-Skrull and can probably use the Skrull Empire, while Marvel can only use generic Skrulls and the Skrull Empire as well. I don't know about the Super-Skrull that possesses the Avengers' powers.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if Fox ever uses the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver they will screw them over royally, whereas Marvel is guaranteed to get the characters right. Following what Vaughn and his minions did to all of the females in X:FC, Wanda will be a hooker and Pietro her pimp.

Are we ignoring all the great portrayals Fox have done? Mystique? Wolverine? Prof X? Magneto? I could go on Fox, with the exception of Wolverine Origins and the majority of X3, have done well with X-Men.

I thought they did Mystique pretty well. Emma didn't do much in the movie, but I saw nothing wrong with what they did. As for the winged girl, she's an F-List character that shouldn't have been in the movie anyway, so who cares about her? I literally don't know who that character is supposed to be, was she even in the comics?

Wouldn't it be cool if Henry Pym got his hands on the remains of the Destroyer armor and crafted it into the shell of Ultron? Then the mad robot would start his existence in a body made of extraterrestrial Uru metal, perhaps later to be augmented with Vibranium.

Who owns the rights to adamantium? The X-Men and Wolverine specifically have used that in their movies. Can Marvel use that, especially for Ultron? Or will he have to be built out of something else?

If you want to introduce Ultron, the continuity already contains one "genius" who's inventions routinely fail in spectacularly dangerous ways: Justin Hammer. You got to figure if that guy ever tried to replicate Jarvis, he's pretty much guaranteed to end up with Ultron. I'd love to see Rockwell in a sequel. Supposedly, he's not in Iron Man 3.

with us definitally getting an ant man, whether or not Ultron turns up in phase 2, or phase 3, since hank is most likely here, chances are, it will stay true to the classics, and pym will be responsible for Ultron

I don't like the idea of Pym being on the team. You have Banner and Stark. The brains department is covered, no need to add more. You could just simplify by having Ultron be a Stark creation that gets out of control.

It's far from the source materal but you know what - I like that idea. Yes to seeing Rockwell return and yes to the idea that Ulton evolves from Hammers attempts to replicate Jarvis.

Ultron isn't a ****-up....it's the ultimate killer robot, and still self-evolving. A Hammer-built Ultron would be as useless as tits on a bull, and would have so many design flaws that even Forbush Man could kick its ass.

Yep. Are we really losing our perspective on Ulton so much that we would just let anyone be his creator? First Stark and now Hammer. Ultron is an awesome villain and part of the reason he is so awesome is because of his relationship to Pym. You can't just plug any scientist/inventor into that role and expect it to work.
