The budget for X3 was more than $200 million and IMO, they really don't know how to maximize their budget. Give this movie to Warner Brothers and visually, all of the X-Men movies would look spectacular.

Singer and Vaughn know how to stretch a budget, but they never got one that big.

The budgeting does seem to be a challenge in these films. I sometimes wonder where all the money goes! Especially with the production costs of Kick-Ass and Chronicle proving that it's possible to do a lot with a little in this genre.

I think with X1, they did what they could. With X2 they made as big a movie as they could. X3 and XM:FC were super rushed so they had to throw money at their problems.

Funny though because Vaughn actually made Kick-Ass haha. At least XM:FC looked sleek and vibrant. I can't say that about any of the other X-Men movies.

Don't forget about Origins, it had a $150 million budget and I still don't get why most of the scenes looked cheap. The camera work, the CGI, the sets were just so-so. I really hated the look of the movie.

Very true. My point is that I believe Singer can stretch a budget and he hasn't completely had the chance to with the X-movies. That's all I'm saying.

Haha, I just try to block out Origins anyways.

It really has to do with how good a filmmaker is at well film making. The director of Origins Wolverine never did a big budget movie before, he didn't know anything about it.

But there's also the crew and the producers. The cinematographer of the movie worked with the first Narnia movie and Moulin Rouge. Most people from the Art Department/crew should have experience when they were signed to do the movie. The producers also had a say in the movie. Its always a collaborative work when it comes to filmmaking.

I think it must be down to having a specific 'vision' worked out before the cameras start rolling. The director has to know exactly what he is doing.

With XMO: Wolverine, we saw just recently how much time and effort (and, no doubt, money and manpower) they wasted on all those designs for Deadpool. None of those designs were needed at all. Not one of them.

X-Men: First Class must have been rushed or they would never have allowed Fassbender's Irish accent at the end of the movie to be the final take. That was probably being done by some second unit while Vaughn and Singer tried to get the editing, FX and score sorted out.

have just seen the second episode of The following. Love the show and really liking Shawns performance here. definetly much more interesting than his role as Iceman in the whole trilogy.

Now Im more interested to see what Singer does with a more mature Bobby this time. He can play a great Bobby, so Im hoping a cool role this time, even if he just appears two or three times.

i think if they have him change to ice form they would need a good reason to do so, just to have him change to ice form just for the heck of it would seem out of place in this movie universe where he doesn't need to ice form up because what benefit would the ice form be to him?

but maybe he had to ice slide through alot of explosions or fires maybe he would have a reason to be iced up

its more of a fan pleaser then a priority

the whole point of introducing familiar characters is fan pleaser itself, so....

but yeah, they could show that once he uses his full potential, his body transform inmediately.

Action is a good reason for that, especially if the future is really apocalyptic then there should be action scenes.

I was pretty happy with Shawn Ashmore as Iceman in the X-films. He could do with attending a gym as some have said but then he was supposed to be a kid in the earlier films so it wasn't really a big deal. Also a fair excuse for him not having the usual souped up Iceman powers. But from now on Iceman needs to be iced up (proper iced up, not frosted over) & walking around in ice form for long periods, even outside of action scenes where it would be obligatory. I'd like to see some imaginative use of his ice powers offensively with ice missiles & mass freezings. Also needs to use ice slides to get around and maybe transport other X-Men around. This is an Omega level mutant dammit, show off those powers!

I want to see bobby change by sealing himself in a block of ice then breaking out of it.
I want to see the ice ramps.
I want to see big stunts with ice creations and shapes.

$160 million is pretty huge in today's standards. I don't think visual effects are still that expensive compare to the mid-00s.

New interview but nothing too exciting, he knows what his role in DoFP is but sworn to secrecy but he does note that the FC cast will interact with the old cast, specifically Jackman, Stewart and McKellan.
