And the good thing is that Warner Bros. wont have to spend a fortune to have Crowe appear as Jor-el in MOS like they did for Brando in S:TM.

I really hope that the scene with Crowe and the actress playing Lara that involves them saying their final goodbye to the infant Kal-el is a powerful moment in the film; I never felt the sad emotions that I thought I was supposed to for the farewell scene in S:TM; I did so for the animated version, so I'm hoping that this scene in MOS can really get me to emphasize with the characters

I actually got a little choked up just imagining that right now. Of course, it doesn't help that I was listening to the score to All-Star Superman at the moment either. That music always gets to me, but hearing it as I was picturing the end of Birthright translated to live-action? Tears in my eyes. Now I'll be sad when he doesn't use that ending, lol.

Does the majority here really want that? It didn't work for me. It's just not necessary. Jor-El and Lara dying not comforted by knowing but just believing that everything is going to be alright is far more powerful to me.

Also I don't think it'd be possible with Jor-El allegedly getting killed by Zod.

If the latter is true, then yes, we won't get it. But if he dies "classically", then I want it. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded. Not a fan of belief, you see.

The beginning and ending of Birthright with Krypton is so wonderfully done, any other comic's Krypton part, e.g Earth One, hasn't come close to the swell of emotions. I hope Goyer took HUGE amounts of inspiration from that part specifically. It's brilliantly written, but I think the fact that Jor El is the one whose struggling to give up his son, rather then stoically stating 'this must be done to save his life' which makes a big difference. The look Crowe's Jor El gives his wife in the trailer captures what he character must be going through, I can't wait to see more. The ending of Birthright is amazing, but I'm not sure if it would translate to film quite so easily?

I gave my girlfriend my copy of Birthright to read and she not only cried at the end, she said she never appreciated how sad Superman's story and situation really is. She likes the character even more now, which is good for me since its her I'll be taking to a midnight screening somewhere

Russell Crowe has been snatching some epic roles recently. Les Miserables, Man with the iron fists and Man of steel. He really feels perfect for this role.

Not necessarily. We know Zod and Jor-El fight, apparently with "laser swords". It's entirely possible Zod deals the fatal blow to Jor-El, but before Jor-El dies, Zod is apprehended and Jor-El rockets Kal-El away. Kal-El then contacts him across 30 years letting his father know in his final moments he made it.

I have a feeling that Jor-El knows that Krypton is going to be destroyed soon, so as he per pairs for battle (so kind of massive fight with Zod obviously involved) He and Lara send Kal-El off. (the scene from the trailer where you see Jor-El, Lara and a baby, Jor-El is wearing his battle armor, not his council robes)

Jor-El then goes and has a fight with Zod as the planet starts to literally fall apart (the scene from the trailer of the woman with her back turned towards us watching explosions, probably Lara). Jor-El gets killed by Zod who then runs off with Faora in an attempt to escape Krypton. Lara then runs over to Jor-El who is dying, Lara has a futuristic tablet and then just as its all about to end....we get to see Cavill as Superman sending his parents the final message (Birthright).

Thats how I think its gonna happen in the movie (take all bets now lol)

Oh yeah, seeing something like the ending to Birthright onscreen in MOS would be emotional and would give me goosebumps and it would of course be....EPIC.

Yeah, I think Jor-El will try to warn Krypton's leaders of impending destruction, they won't listen, he'll tell Lara to wait a little while for him and if he doesn't come back to leave with Kal-El. He'll try to follow after if he can. Jor-El will go to try to stop whatever is destroying Krypton from happening. But for whatever reason (Zod?) he won't make it back. Lara will send Kal-El off on his own and remain behind, waiting on her husband, unwilling to leave without him.

It's a matter of context and editing order wrt Lara standing alone witnessing what I presumed to be Krypton's destruction.

I have a strong feeling that the Krypton sequences will be flashbacks by Zod and Clark in the fortress of solitude.
