It all depends on the execution. The feel of it all and adapting it to the context of live-action and the X-Men movieverse is more important than being a slave to the storyline. I'm not a purist by any means. The animated series changed a lot of things in the story but still did a great version of it.

Probably right. My personal preference would be to see X-Men, Avengers & JL to be released once every 3 years (for the rest of time) in alternate years.

I never get these arguments anyway. Constructive & civil discussion on preference is fine & can be fun but just trashing the alternative when there isn't even a discussion about it in the 1st place is.. weird (at best). And I can understand (but not support) to some extent the motivation when it comes to an expensive product like a games console and someone is insecure about whether they bought the one that will turn out to be a failure and therefore puts forward endless biased rubbish on the subject, but we're talking films here. You really can watch more than one!

I hope there are some surprises though. I don't want to be able to flick the pages of the comic and watch the same thing on screen.

Even the films of Marvel Studios don't follow the comic. There is no comic book equivalent of the Avengers movie, for instance. It's more about respecting the spirit of the comics and their characters than a panel-for-panel, word-for-word replication.

I think the story would need to change quite a bit. For instance it wouldn't give Fassbender and Lawrence much to do except show up near the end and be defeated by the X-team.

And if there are battles with the Sentinels in the future after the timetraveller leaves, I hope they have a purpose other than showing cool fight scenes and character deaths.

Most people who are big fans of X-Men can probably derive some form of enjoyment from Avengers..(& Justice League). Did you read any of the comics where they crossover? Just because one thing is great doesn't mean its rivals suck.

What?! I just said I was tired of Avengers that's all. And it is Healthy competion in hollywood anyway. I was talking about people apart of the movie producions not fans. Meaning the directors up onemenship.

Just read the Days of Future Past comic for the first time (on my iPad). Some potentially powerful moments if they use them in the film. I hope they include Wolverine and Storm dying during their 'final stand' against the sentinels.
