Honestly I don't think even darkly comedic performances get enough credit during the awards seasons. It's all about who can scream and cry in a dark drama. I hope she wins just because I'm tired of that performance always winning. Easy A wasn't a very good film but I remember loving Stone's performance. and thinking why can't performances like this get more attention? I think that comedy is harder to do on average than drama, I mean really good comedy not the lazy Adam Sandler kind.

Just my two cents.

I expect the drama and playing a real life person bias to continue at the Oscars.

Generally I completely agree with that, one of the reasons I rarely pay attention to the award scene or critics.

I've always found drama in general to be the most overrated genre amongst film buffs and critics.

I see where you are coming from.....I just look at the performance within the genre I'm watching. I don't necessarily compare them...

But surely Jessica Chastain's performance is without peer. She scowls alot and swears when it's kind of not necessary to, that's how you know she's an empowered woman from a 1992 TV cop drama.

I like Jessica Chastain, but I saw nothing special about Zero Dark Thirty at all. She was as good as the material allowed, but it didn't allow much.

None of the characters are particularly interesting.

I would take her performance in Mama over that.

Jessica Chastain was the only thing holding together a badly written film. Jennifer was a good actress in a good film.

It's the classic MVP debate in sports; whether you give the MVP award to the great player on a crap team or a great player on a great team.

Think that Chastain is a fab actress based on her performances in Tree of Life and The Help but I just can't bring myself to see ZD30. I'm sure she is fine in the film but I thought Hurt Locker was just okay and I don't care for procedural films. I just don't feel like wasting my time on a DVD genre. Procedural films are always wait for DVD films because I never love or even really like them.

Might as well wait for the DVD, ZD30 is overrated. I like Katherine Bigelow, but to prove to me she's a genuinely an elite director, she needs to do something other than a military theme. Her whole "playing in the boy's sandbox" cachet is yesterday's news; time to prove she has real artistic integrity.

She seems more likely to make fun of those types of girls than actually BE one. Which I actually find quite attractive.

Finally saw Silver Lining Playbook. It was a bit slow to start but unsurprisingly it kicks up a gear once Jen comes into the story. I fall more in love with her with each film.

I downloaded a great looking and sounding copy yesterday. I watched like five minutes of it, saw some of Bradley Cooper's scenes and frankly it looked really interesting so I may check it out tonight.

I would donate my life savings to fund a project starring her, Paul Rudd and Jason Bateman.

if she is in a comedy it needs to be a r rated comedy. no this romantic BS with a love story.

Silver Book was a serious movie. i dont count that.
