There have got to be at least some tall, muscular guys who can act available for the Drax role. Marvel probably has agents throughout Hollywood flooding them with prospects.

We never think of actors who are known for comedy for these types of roles, we're just slaves to typecasting.

Siblings dating in real-life isn't that uncommon around these parts.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dwayne is offered the Drax role (if it hasn't already). They were looking for comedic actors.
They're making this into a likeable rag tag team and I'm loving it.

I kind of hope Pratt grows a beard for the role. He looks perfect below.

Eh. Some strong stubble, sure but not an all out beard. Actually the well trimmed Thor beard would work too.

So is this supposed to have a Star Wars type of vibe? Meaning adventurous comedy with earned serious moments?
Never read GotG.

But it has potential for dramatic moments and an overall emotional core? Or you think they're going for a more campy approach here with less substance...
So weird anticipating this because it's the only upcoming Marvel movie that I'm absolutely clueless about. Not idea what to expect in the least bit.

Yeah, Thanos is one evil bastard and his connections to Drax and Gamora have some pretty dark undertones. Also Quill's origin is pretty messed up

Basically Star-Lord is kind of the only sane man of the group but is kind of sarcastic and heroic in an Indy/Han Solo kind of way.
Rocket Raccoon is a cockney badass but just as sarcastic. Drax and Gamorra are warriors who are both always constantly serious and angsty at times but have extremely dry humor. Groot is a talking tree who is probably the smartest of all of them and is actually a scientist on his homeworld but can only speak the one phrase I am Groot.

I can already tell by this casting alone that Marvel is going for actors who have demonstrated a capacity for meaty dramatic range but who are also just naturally funny and charismatic. A big reason for this I would imagine is to try bringing some levity to some pretty intensely dark themes that will be prevalent in the main arc. I'm also getting the felling that the ending will be pretty unconventional (just a feeling I'm getting). This is a very smart play on Marvel's book as they seem to have a solid outline of where they're going with this. They're always prepared and I absolutely admire that about them.

The vibe is more like Farscape which was sort of like a sci-fi, adventure, comedic soap opera.

I don't see why some people are worrying about the tone of the film. All the films in phase one have little bits of humor and comedic relief here and there. But overall it's all serious and dramatic. It's only going to become more serious in tone as the films continue and phases advance, threats will grow larger. But of course just like the other films, spots here and there of humor.

he's busy with being the lead in HERCULES which shoots this Summer during the same time as GUARDIANS in London.. so Dwayne won't be able to take role..
