It's an issue of poor CGI, regardless of the over-the-top, cartoonish design. How people cannot see this, or won't admit to it, is beyond me. That said, there is an explanation for it, and it's not as though Singer suddenly lost his eye for good effects work.
Digital Domain simply could not deliver, and, given the company's situation, there isn't anything Warner Bros. could do about it, unless they wanted to spend even more money on Jack the Giant Slayer, further delay its release, and guarantee it won't make a profit. That said, I'm not at all worried about Days of Future Past. Having Prometheus VFX Supervisor, Richard Stammers, on the project is a step in the right direction. This movie should look amazing. |

Definitely giving this flick a pass. A shame too, I adore Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci, and after the zombie romcom I'm really warming to Nicholas Hoult as well. |

I kind of do hope it happens though. In an ideal world I'd love a Singer-directed X4... clearing the way for a Vaughn-directed FC3. Though after he bailed I'm not sure he'd ever come back/they'd want him back.

come on, blue!
this is 2013, this isnt 2006 anymore. Fox had certain plans back in 2007/08, but they didnt work out, with Origins and their new xmen spinoff. Lauren and Singer probably had X4 as a follow up to Days of future past since day one. Why dont we support it? this is the perfect moment, almost everyone is asking for Cyclops, Colossus, Nightcrawler... We should join forces, at least most of us. Days of future past will be the biggest movie of the franchise. We dont know how big, but it will be the biggest. So the sooner we show our support, the better lets be optimistic, Avengers opened the door. THIS is the moment

This news is amazing to hear. it means LSD has and most likely other are trying to convince Fox to develop an X4. All Fox need in order to greenlight this project is for the fans to show support for the movie. If we show them that we would still like this movie then the next logical step is for the movie to go into active development.

x-men fans should make some noise between now and DOFP release.

CGI looks bad in the light, still...
Fully CGI Sentinels in the dark could look good maybe... |

The problem with Jack the Giant Slayer is that along with all other modernizations of fairy tales it looks boring. I'm crossing my fingers for Bryan Singer and Sam Raimi to be successful though

Iron Man and Transformers have demonstrated time and again that metal robots or metal structures can be believably produced by an effects house that knows what it's doing.

Why? Its a legitimate reason to be turned off about the movie.

There's a difference between being turned off and avoiding completely. A bad story with bad actors is a reason to avoid a movie. People shouldn't see movies for good CGI.

But if the movie relies heavily on CG to tell the story, bad CG can be a dealbreaker.

Any reason for seeing or not seeing a movie is legitimate according to each individual. I saw Transformers 3 in theatres entirely for the CGI sequences. I avoided Anna Karenina because I can't stand Keira Knightley. I sat through all 100 miserable hours of Tron Legacy because the soundtrack was fantastic. I will see DOFP *solely* because Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are reprising their roles and because I still have this impossible dream that Ottman is not returning to destroy all the quality music Henry Jackman introduced to the series.
No one is qualified to determine for other people what a "good enough" reason is for their viewing preferences. It's akin to telling someone they aren't "a TRUE fan" of something. So if I decide that I don't want to see Jack because the Giants are distractingly bad, that is a good enough reason for me to save my 10$ for a different flick. |

Reasons I'm watching Days of Future Past:
1. Huge fan of the comic 2. Loved First Class so I'm excited to watch the continuation of Charles & Erik's story 3. James McAvoy & Michael Fassbender are acting powerhouses. Trance, 12 Years a Slave and The Counselor are three of my most anticipated movies of 2013. 4. Hugh Jackman as an older Wolverine. Its a dream come true that its really happening. 5. Live-action Sentinels. 6. The X3 follow up aspect to the film. Never thought I'd see a continuation to that story so naturally I'm interested. 7. Bryan Singer returning to the house he built. I haven't liked anything he's done since X2. Its great to see him back with the X-Men and I'm sure he'll deliver. |

She wouldn't make any sense in these movies though...
From a story point of view, Magneto never had children in these films, and if they suddenly decide to make it so that he did, I think we've got too much going on in DOFP to suddenly explain his fatherhood. From a studio POV, a studio that hasn't hidden the fact that it's chosen characters specifically for their powers, introducing another metal bender seems counter productive... |
