It's pretty much dominating the mobile market. Android has a firm grasp on every major market around the world except the US, which is still predominately Apple country.

In the US, they won't take over the market from Apple unless their fan base jumps ship. With that new iTunes streaming service that's rumored, that will be just enough "innovation" to keep them from doing so.

actually, i think android already has a slight lead over apple in market share in the US. worldwide, it's a dominant advantage.

Wow...that's very interesting. It just shows how skewed the Android market itself really is as well.

Welp, I have NO choice but to upgrade now...My phone gave up the ghost today...So tomorrow I make my way to AT&T to either upgrade to a Galaxy III or a Note II. May stick with the Galaxy...Don't feel like dropping 300 bones on the Note II right now.

Aww, don't worry as Ghost in the Shell has taught us nothing truly ever dies. Your phone probably uploaded it's AI into a universal driver that will port it into another physical form.

I really hate all these phones with 5 inch screens. I hope some upcoming phones are the size of the RAZR M.

It looks like the only OEMs that are staying below 5 inches for flagships are Apple, Nokia and HTC. The HTC One is expected to be 4.8 inches.

Call quality is the biggest issue that bothers me about the review, as well as the camera quality (kind of already knew that because of CES, but it's still disappointing).

Still, it's good to know that the build is solid and the UI is pretty vanilla. If they market it right, then it should be doing well.

design-wise it looks pretty decent; i just trust htc anymore. their battery life have been poor and i'm always weary of the lack of support. i also don't like going with a company that's been losing market share at a pretty rapid pace in recent years.

the xperia z, aesthetic/design wise, might be the best out there right now. i think it edges out the iphone 5 in terms of looks/class and build quality. i also love sony's ui; their skin on top of android is probably the lightest and best of all the OEMs.

i'm hoping the galaxy s4 will be made of something other than plastic. if it is, i'll probably be getting it. samsung has shown strong support for its devices, and performance will be tops. i'm absolutely tired of plastic/cheap materials though, and i need top notch build quality. a rehash of the s3 without some upgraded materials probably won't sway me, even if it has the best performance.

My wife's TB is acting up since the ICS update, go figure. So today, she wants to get a new phone and doesn't want to wait. She's either getting the SIII, Note II, or Droid DNA, but she doesn't trust HTC anymore after the delays with the TB's support.

My wife has no patience, so we went to Radioshack and bought the SIII! The store has it for $100, which is $100 cheaper than VZW and $50 cheaper than BB.

She loves it so far.

Yeah, it was $100 with the upgrade. Radioshack is having a sale until tomorrow. I would either pick up the ad in the paper and have AT&T price match if they do that, or return it and pick it up at Radioshack instead.

The only reason I found out about it was because I googled Best Buy and GSIII, and the right hand corner showed the Radioshack deal, so we went there.

Just be careful when buying from any third party (Best Buy, Amazon.com, RadioShack). There prices are almost always cheaper than the provider but make sure you read your fine print. Often they include parameters like you can't adjust your plan for 6-12 months or they will charge you extra for the difference on the phone, and if you terminate your contract with your provider, you may pay an early termination fee with the provider and where you bought the store. Keep an eye on your plan and features too sometimes I saw retailers adding on extras. RadioShack isn't known to do these things as much as say, WireFly, but please just make sure you read over everything

nice. s3 is a great phone.

i'm still using my atrix running gingerbread (eff you moto)...i've been very patient but i've been itching to upgrade for the past 3 months. i think holding out for the new flagships will be worth it, though. i'm estimating another 2-3 month wait...sigh.
