This issue was really good. The pacing was great, and it was nice to see a Green Arrow that actually seemed to care about his mistakes and how he affected people. The bump on the head story might actually pay off. The art was good and the story is promising.

I though it was pretty good. I have not read a whole lot of Green Arrow in the past but Jeff Lemire said he wants to do a Daredevil/Batmen style street vigilante style Green Arrow book and that sounds great to me.

It sounds much better than what we've been having. Arrow in the arctic and then in china...why? thank god he hit his head and now he's not a jerk. He is really starting to become more of a fighter for the little guy, like the old days.

I loved the book, so glad I enjoy it again. But I do have one gripe. I think the colors kind of take away from the art, I kind of wish it was all in black and white and green like a couple panels. Or at least colored in a way that it doesn't look like it blotches over all of the details in the pencils.

I liked Green Arrow #17 quite a bit. It seemed like the new direction is off to a good start.

This was my first green arrow issue that I picked up in the new 52. I thought it was really really good. Are any of the previous ones worth reading?

Like the new direction they're going in with 17. It compliments the TV show by focusing more on the island and Ollie's father while still remaining its own thing. Glad I finally have another DC title to pick up besides the usual Justice League, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Green Lantern.
I feel like they're pulling a little from Matt Fraction's Hawkeye with the artistic direction they're going in as well...although that's the only comparison I'd make. |

I'm particularly liking how so much of what buggered up the relaunch before this has been dealt with in one fell swoop of only a couple of pages

Any idea when Roy will make an appearance in Lemire's run? I am assuming eventually since it seems like Ollie is bound to get pretty desperate as the arc carries on. Even without Roy, Lemire on Green Arrow is amazing.

Apparently a couple issues from now in Red Hood Roy confronts Ollie about something. Maybe the teamup extends from there.

Eh, I'd recommend the zero issue if you really want to read some Green Arrow.

The zero issue by Winnick was good. The Krul stuff was alright, but I find it so baffling that DC kept him on the book with a direction that was the complete opposite of what Krul was previously doing. The Jurgens and Nocenti stuff were outright horrible.

I guess I'll be picking up the zero issue then. Does it conflict with what happened on the island in Year One? That's easily my favorite Green Arrow story.

It conflicts with what happens on the boat, it only shows the island for a page I think. But it's mostly Ollie getting attacked on the ship by a supervillain and meeting Roy after getting off the island. Lemire is going to be expanding on the island I think.

Where do you guys think this is going? I'm kinda into it, but don't know why they have to be killing everyone. I personally think that Queen should be smart enough to make his own arrows, but whatevs...

I didn't like #18 as much as the previous issue. It was well written and the artwork remained top notch, but now the story seems to be settling into too comfortable or familiar territory. I didn't like that Oliver found a tech guy, and a seemingly trustworthy one too, so quickly. And why Oliver would trust this guy, after firing him, makes little sense to me.
But I guess he's just so desperate he doesn't have a lot of options. Komodo has potential, though I could've been spared the introduction of his daughter and having her witness his brutality so casually. Also Magus feels like a deus ex machina or something. I don't know why Lemire went with the name Outsiders. I'm guessing that they aren't good guys in the New 52. I wish he had gone with another name though. |

I've heard this book got pretty good at 17. Is that when Lemire came on? Just wondering cuz I have 17 and 18 I'm about to read and didn't know if I should try and pick up some other issues

Yeah that's when he started. Check out the one that came out this week too. It's really intense.
