I wish they would have made Justin Hammer feel like more of a threat instead of a cheap, bungling Tony Stark-wannabe. If they had made Vanko and him more devious and their plans more sinister, then I wouldn't have had a problem with a majority of the plot.

I don't get that either. After seeing Rhodey get excited about the MKII suit in IM and saying, "Next time, baby," people couldn't have been more set up for WM's appearance. I do think they mishandled his role in the movie in several areas, but overall, WM is still a strong point for IM2.

Yeah this bit - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...zf3h50LU#t=49s

used to have a wicked gif of it but I guess it was on my old comp. Alas.

Also it wasn't the minigun! My memory fails me.

But using the old armour to change it digitally to the new one, heh, no.
They did it at least once in The Avengers. In this shot Downey was wearing a practical version of the Mark VI on set, but they digitally replaced it with the Mark VII later on.

Not that I necessarily think that's what they're doing here.

Fair enough. I still don't buy it.

That because the writer of IM2 is an utter douche hack, no idea why they bothered getting him.

This is off topic but for me, that was the worst shot/angle in the whole film. I actually didn't rate that whole scene exchange with Loki too highly either.

Very strange to see Downey Jr in shorts in one of the most expensive movies ever. Makes you wonder all the things they usually use CGI to cover things.

Is that supposed to be the new strategy, then, for IM3 --- build up hype for "reveals" of stuff everybody has already seen countless times before? Okay.

Sure: I'm wrong. But if I'm right, I called it here first, "scooper" wannabes.
Except we haven'r gotten ANY official pictures or footage of the War Machine armor from the film.

Just and only footage of the Iron Patriot armor.

and yes people, they are still 2 different things.

Point being, this could very well be our first official look at the WM armor.

metal and paint are some of the most well imitated materials in CG, so trading realism for actor comfort, so they can give a better performance, is preferred now.

And they were spending so much time on Ironman and the Hulk, that they forgot that Captain America's suit really got seriously damaged during the battle.... and it in this shot it somehow spontaneously fixed it self to brand new condition... lol

Umm, no. He's quite key in the film. There were several scenes building up the idea of War Machine. Rhodey's arc in the film is probably one of the few aspects of it that were well written.

It was RDJ's suggestion after Theroux wrote "Tropic Thunder"

Not a good decision

But I think RDJ's next suggestion of Shane Black will be right

War Machine was THE best part of IM2
