I think I have to see this arc as a whole before giving a verdict on this issue.

I actually really like what Yost is doing with The Other. It takes something that flopped before with Peter Parker, and executes it a little better here with Kaine. Though I am not interested in seeing a hairy tarantula version of him ongoing...

I do think that The Other's resentment of Peter rejecting it will lead to Kaine returning to New York to face Peter. Too bad (for The Other) its Otto in Pete's body.

This is exactly why I'd like for the Octo-Spidey thing to be done in the next 10 issues or so. Sure there is some cool story potential, but I'm more interested to see how normal Peter would deal with characters like Kaine and Flash Venom. Ah well... one day.

Ok, so, on my way to work this morning, I was going over, in my head, the latest issue of Scarlet Spider.
When I read it last week, something bothered me about it and I now know what it is....
Kaine got a Tatoo...Again...Though, I think I somehow skipped over him getting it originally, and only noticed it in that following issue, but if I actually realized he got one sooner, I would have realized this sooner...

Agreed. I understand that they want to make him more of a bad-ass Peter Parker, but I really can't image that Peter or Kaine would ever get a tattoo.
Especially not Kaine whi was branded in a way for his whole life.

I dunno, he's got this high from all the new lease on life stuff. I figured he wanted to try something new. Plus, sometimes it's hard to resist the charms of a hot tattoo artist hah.

Why would Slott any influence? He's not the editor. The only time Slott would have any say is if Kaine fought SpOck.
