It was via interview last month & I learned about it the same way I learned about Boothe's interview - Facebook. I'll try to find it. |

I'm not too knowledgeable on the Vietnam War but I do know that Vietnam vets weren't treated kindly when they returned to the U.S. They were called all sorts of bad things by American civilians when they came home like "psycho killers'', "baby killers" etc. So it backs up the theory that Marv was in fact in the Vietnam War. His flat top haircut has a kind of Nam' era look to it too lol. Last edited by RedShield; 02-06-2013 at 04:00 AM. |

Remember how Miller once said he'd like to write a story telling how Hartigan got that X shaped scar on his head? Well, I heard this theory from someone that noticed that JGL's new character, Johnny, has the same first name as Hartigan. So what if JGL is actually playing a young John Hartigan and his "Long Bad Night" tells that story?
I thought it was interesting. |

Yeah, the Looper connection crossed my mind as well.
I also just noticed that the back cover of "Booze, Broads, & Bullets" has Marv and Nancy together both holding guns. This was from way back when he still planned on writing that post-TYB Nancy story as a comic called "The Hard Good-bye" and Marv was apparently gonna be a big character in it. Now in a recent interview Alba said she's actually been working with Rourke on this film, unlike the last one where they filmed all their stuff separately. So is this something we might be seeing in the new movie?

Should be plenty of Marv. They are doing "Just Another Saturday Night" so they probably could add some things in there with Marv, Hartigan and Nancy if needed. Or the new Nancy story does just tie everything together like Miller said awhile back...

Marv's story was originally just titled "Sin City". It was only retitled "The Hard Goodbye" around 2005 when the first film came out. Before that Miller had planned on using that title for a Nancy story that took place two years after Hartigan's suicide and included Marv, but it was never finished or published. Most fans believe it is that story we are getting in the new film finally completed.

It's going to be badass seeing Dwight and Marv team up.

Never paid attention to the story or give it a try, but....
This movie is based on comic books, and it's not in the comic book movie forum

So I watched Sin City today on bluray and the first thing that came to mind after it was over was - Greg Nicotero better come back for the make-up effects. I mean, with the exception of Jackie Boy's nose, the prosthetics were great. Marv & the yellow bastard were perfect. Hopefully Nicotero's back and we can have the same quality and much needed consistency in this movie.

Agreed. Nicotero is an awesome guy who really loves the craft of special effects make up, and probably honestly my favorite SFX Artist ever in Hollywood.

I rewatched Sin City the other day, and although I think the story (without reading any of the books) isn't the strongest part of the film, it's a really beautiful experience when it comes to cinematography. I hope that feeling stays in this flick too. I also hope they still go with the beautiful vintage cars, I loved that little detail.
It surely will be interesting to see Eva Green in this.

Love the new pic of Brolin as Dwight, what I especially love is you can see how he could morph into the Clive Owen version, will really help when thinking of these two as the same character.
