I still want JJ Abrams to direct Star Trek III even if it takes another long 4 years for it happen or worse longer. But its a shame if he doesn't the movie. He directs a lot of movies and its too bad, he just doesn't want to concentrate with doing Star Trek movies every 2 to 3 years.

I always thought of Insurrection as a bad movie, but a really good episode. That's basically what it is in the end. A stretched out episode.

I've said this elsewhere, but I think that Robert Zemeckis would make an outstanding director for a Star Trek film.

I think it Brad Bord should direct the third. We saw how well he handled a franchise that J.J. Abrams had his mits on before. Plus Bird is a good choice.

Abrams protege Matt Reeves strikes me as the natural replacement.

Personally I wish Abrams would pick one franchise or the other (preferably Star Wars) and stick with it. Being a big fan of both I have no desire for Star Wars and Star Trek to become this homogeneous grey sludge that have the same look, feel, and tone. Hopefully his involvement in Star Trek 3 will be minimal.

What about Orci or Kurtzman getting the directing spot?

I agree. I think he served his purpose in the Star Trek franchise (bringing it back to life and creating a new generation of Trekkies), but now we have to move away from Star Wars and bring it back to what it should be.

I guarantee you he's not going to stay with Star Trek. And he's not going to do Trek 3.

Paramount already cancelled the WonderCon panel.

I want Bryan Singer

He seems like a heathy fit to Trek.

From what I understand Bryan Singer is a pretty big Trek fan. Of course he's also a big Superman fan...

I think Brad Bird would be cool. He took over from Abrams on MI4 and imo made the best of that series. His ability to blend humor with over the top action fits the Star Trek template.

I'd like to see Singer direct this. His Trek film will be different though. Slower paced and more cerebral, that's for sure. In terms of action, Singer did well with X2.

Brad Bird would be a really cool choice. I loved MI:4 and the tone is very similar to ST...very wise pick here.
