I'm taking a wait and see approach. I was never sold on Henry and I just don't see it. Hope he does a good job though,

His tweet about the most negative reaction coming from the professional critic worries me much more than Cavill's performance.

A show of hands of people not going to see this in theaters? Yep, thought so lol. We will all be there...I mean what's the worse that could happen....Superman Returns 2 lol.

That tweet has me pretty worried. I don't think I'm going to waste my time seeing it in the theatre.

I think all this negative talk is crazy or simply bs because i see so much Superman in Cavill in every interview and public appearence he does that I just can't believe that he wouldn't be good in the movie about the character. Even a simply "good evening" in the Baftas sounded so much like Superman. He seems to be doing a great job so far in the trailers...so...i`ll wait and see.
I don't believe this Pony guy anyways. |

The Superman you see in Cavill when he's in public or giving interviews might not be the Superman you see onscreen. I'm not trying to be a downer, but I wouldn't set my expectations too high just yet. And I'm not just saying that because of those tweets.

So that might be the script's fault, not his performance. Still find it hard to believe in these tweets.

Just saying. Whether it's his fault or the script's isn't really important.

He doesn't look the part to me. Of all the names being thrown around here before the announcement, his was the last I would have assumed would have got it. Just don't see it at all. He's not a bad actor, but I'm pretty indifferent to him.

I hope it's not a case where outside of production he comes off more as Superman, but in the film he is written and directed in a way that misses the mark.
Not to bring up Routhe again, but he seemed to have a lot of potential pre-production given his mannerisms, speech and presence; and seemed more like Superman/Clark in interviews than in the actual movie....at least IMO. I pray that is not the case with Cavill in MOS. However, I also think that we are going to see a pretty badass Superman in this film that is going to shock a lot of people, maybe even diehard fans. I think if Cavill comes out fighting, throwing punches, and being more human in his actions than a symbol of righteousness right off the back it might not sit well with some people.

What tweet? It must be a rather intense tweet, from a rather important person, if you're letting it dissuade you from seeing the movie!

Yes a film that was considered pretty good is not worth seeing because the lead was only considered serviceable by a tweet. Of course, it would be different if it said he was phenomenal.

...I do hope that Cavill will be this era's Supes though....but for now C. Reeve is the man...the Superman!

I am sure that Cavill will do fine as Superman, its his performance as Clark Kent and his acting in some of the emotional scenes that I am worried about. |

Glad to hear the positive reactions to the movie, not that it was unexpected.

Let's be honest, Cavill has to prove himself here, as he is not considered in the same league as Andrew Garfield and Christian Bale (when he signed up for Batman Begins.)

News about a screening of MOS came back. Basically, reaction was pretty good, but reviews/audience thought Cavill was ok, or "fine but easily replaceable", ect.
