So every time I'd watch X1 or X2, it would be kinda depressing to think that all those characters have nothing much to look forward to, and that Professor X's dream of coexistence eventually comes to nothing, in this timeline.
If they deal with Alt timelines, some version of the X Men will be screwed regardless if its post X3 or not. They would have to do a fixable future to get around that.

Judging by the most recent comments though, it seems that DoFP is set post-X3 after all.
if the idea is indeed that after this film everything that happened in X1,2 and 3 would be changed then that would be very tricky to explain at the end of the film and would make complications to have to explain

folk on this forum are very easy to assume and react to things, don't take it to heart, it just requires a little more thinking bout how to say certain stuff

I say wipe the slate clean. The X-Men movies are about Wolverine. It would be a good way to complete his arc, should he go back in time and prevent the mutants he loves from dying. That would be worth it, and an acceptable explanation to do away with the events of X1-X3. Of course Magneto would see the errors of his ways at some point and would lose interest in Rogue, hence Rogue never ends up joining the team because the Brotherhood never bother to track her down. So Rogue doesn't become an X-Men either, although you can write her back in at some point if you choose. Maybe she is recruited another way.

I think you need two films to wrap it all up, so make a third movie picking up in the 80's with Cyke, Jean, Beast, Storm, etc. Have Sinister as the villain. Then you can take a break from ensemble movies for a while. Wait for the new cast to get older. Post X-3 trilogy in 10 years time.

Only if he is lazy. Both chairs have got the wheel hand rails so he can haul his own butt around if he wants to

Looking at the chairs though reminds me of him walking at the start of X3. Not sure how Singer can 'fix' that one (and him being pals with Eric again).

Yes. Like the old saying goes "Oh what a tangled web we weave." It's a shame these filmmakers don't pay attention to continuity. This particular situation with Xavier is such a convoluted mess!

The sad thing is that I thought First Class did an amazing job explaining why Charles was in the wheel chair. Bryan isn't going to let bad stories prevent him from making good ones, but there will aways be continuity problems, and as much as you try to ignore them, they're always in the back of your mind. Which is why this movie needs to revamp the timeline.

Liked it in the cartoon, but it would look too bulky in the films. Plus it would be a bit much to have a hover chair in the movies. I don't think the future scenes will be set in the distant future, so it will be a bit of a head scratcher.
