Im glad Singer is back and also glad that he's able to clean up the mess that was X3 but I know he won't be able to 'clean up' everything.

Lol, I think the real key issue here is that Tom Rothman won't have anything to do with this.

I sure hope Singer's return to the X-Men is nothing like Peter Jackson's return to Middle Earth.

As a dramatic scene maybe it wasn't well executed, and you can call it cheesy and awkward and whatever, but to say that the whole cinema laughed is too much. Unless it was an audience of ten-year olds. A beloved character had just died, as even if the empty chair failed to represent the event and could generate some facepalms and rolleyes, there's nothing remotely funny about it.

Also, I should mention, I was there laughing along with them. Laughter is generally an uncontrollable burst of emotion that relieves tension.. After seeing Jean go crazy and Xavier die (which was pretty shocking the first time around), having a stupid and ridiculous shot of a chair was obviously enough for people to uncontrollably laugh and release that tension. Makes perfect sense to me. It did at the time and it does now.

"Obviously enough". Okay then. I think I must be glad that when I watched the movie the audience wasn't just as obvious.

Or perhaps your audience was just more immune to being fed garbage? Who knows? Certainly not me... Or you for that matter :P

While it was an unintentionally funny moment, I wouldn't imagine the entire theater erupting into laughter. Some chuckles maybe, but not everyone laughing in unison.

Yeah, it was a funny thing. I mean I personally, as a HUGE X-Men fan was a little annoyed at the laughter, even though it elicited laughter from me too. I remember even getting a little defensive when people were saying how stupid the movie was afterwards. It wasn't until my second viewing that I really realised how much was wrong with the movie.
Such a shame because I was so excited for all the trailers leading up to it.

Are they building a completed version for the future scenes, the past scenes, or is this how it will be shown in the past scenes, showing how they build it?

At the least a Panel with Singer and some of the cast. Hopefully a teaser, promotional art or some rough footage.
