Wonder Woman is a great book. They finally found the right balance between mythology and superheroics again after almost 2 decades of struggle. Justice League is terrible; avoid at all costs. You made a smart move by making JLD your go to team book.

Yanick Paquette announced on his Deviant art that a whole different creative team is taking over swamp thing after 19.
I am not particularly pleased by this. Edit: A message from Scott Snyder on the matter. http://www.newsarama.com/comics/snyd...-thing-18.html Last edited by redhawk23; 12-16-2012 at 04:00 PM. |

Man, I'm hoping Paquette goes to something I read. I love his art.

He needs to improve his speed a bit though. It started feeling like we got 2 issues by Marco Rudy for every 1 we got from Paquette.

^Yep, and I am not a fan of Rudy's art. I really hope he is not the one who replaces Paquette as the lead artist.

So DC finally announced the replacements for Snyder and Paquette. I am quite relieved that they aren't handing the art over to Marco Rudy full time.
In the writing department we have Charles Soule creater of 27 and for the art we have Kano who if I'm not mistaken did some work on Rotworld already. Soule discusses his plans for our favorite vegetable. Seems like he's aiming for shorter more contained stories which after a year and a half of Rotworld I certainly welcome that. Also check out this amazing cover for Swamp Thing 19 in April. This art is by Andy Brase

I'm happy Ray Fawkes and Jeff Lemaire are now writing the Constantine solo title.

Same here, although I' am wondering if they will keep any of the old Vertigo continuity.

I think they might continue from where his original Swamp Thing run left off when he was in his early thirties.
I hope they keep stuff like his punk rocker Mucous Membrane career, Casa Nova Club Newcastle incident, stay at Ravenscar Mental Hospital, Nergal incounters and Deadly Habits lung cancer scheme. Those are the things I think they sould keep for sure.

Aren't they just going to ignore the Vertigo series and base it off whats been seen in JLD?

Be a shame to completely wipe all of that continuity. His Vertigo solo title is what filled in his backstory and fleshed him out. Ignoring everything would be kind of crazy. It would be like going back to the bob kane era Batman and starting from there while ignoring every storyline, character, development, ect since he stopped writing the title.

Correct me if I'm wrong though but isn't Vertigo, like, another continuity altogether... separate from the main DC Universe? I know very little about it but I was under the impression that the JLD and the Vertigo Constantines were two different characters.

The Vertigo Constantine was a continuation of the DC Swamp Thing version. It sort f hard to explain I guess.
The Vertigo Constaine age in real time.

The Rotworld arc has been great. Anton Arcane is a great villain.

I have been thinking about the trades of Snyder/Lemire run on Swamp Thing and Animal Man.

I have them. Went back and bought them after I picked up like issues 11-14 of each and back ordered the rest. Both runs have been great but I am a first time reader for both characters. I really REALLY wanna go back and read Moore's run now after I've heard so ****ing much about it

Justice League Dark is a fun read. The addition of new characters and greater emphasis on action have been positive changes. Although, I was one of those (few?) who also enjoyed the earlier issues with slower pacing and more focus on character relationships. The artwork was also more solid, back then. But I have few complaints. Honestly, I'd buy this monthly just for the awesome cover art. I recommend it and keep coming back monthly.
Stormwatch is the DC book I'm most excited to read each month. Every issue does something I didn't expect, and unfolds new aspects of the characters and their relationships. There's never a dull moment, and page space is used to good effect. I didn't think I'd like this series, and I was very skeptical of the chosen characters...but I love it. I didn't want to see ____ leave the team, but it hasn't hurt the book one bit. I can't get enough, and highly recommend. Swamp Thing is what I call high value. Art, story, every aspect is top-notch. I dropped from my pull awhile back, because I just wasn't feeling it. With work slowing down, I might pick this one back up along with a few other titles. Although, I still have to read all of Alan Moore's version. The few that I have read were exquisite. I'll probably read up on those before coming back to the current run. I just read the latest Frankenstein, AOS. I love stuff like this. I haven't touched this title in a really long time. It looks like I've missed out on some cool stuff. Will probably buy up some back issues of this one.

Due to some money problems I haven't been able to read any comics yet in 2013. I can't wait to get back into Swamp Thing and Animal Man and pick up the the last few issues of rotworld. (Though I'm not looking forward to the February issue of Swamp Thing, the art looks really bad.)
Justice League Dark I got completely messed up on, missing the 0 issue and then the Annual with were unavailable in my LCS, so I missed out on the back story with Nick Nitro which was kind of confusing but then I missed the end of that Faust storyline entirely with the Annual. Because of that I haven't bought JLD in a few months. |

Yeah, those two issues are kind of important to the overall arc. You should hunt those down on ebay or something.

Care to spoil it? I browsed through it today and tried to find spoilers online. And if Swamp Thing's status quo is where I think it may be, I'm very pleased by the possibilities that can come out of it.
