I would believe so. Crowe was twetting about his Krypton fight with Zod while filming back in Nov of 2011.

I'm not a big comic guy, so here's a quick question for those in the know...

Was Jor-EL ever portrayed as a fighter or anything other then a Scientist in the comics? Just trying to get an idea of why he would be in battle with Zod?

In the Silver and Golden age comics (1930s-1970), and post 1970, Jor-El was portrayed mostly as a great scientist, the equivalent of a combination of Leonardo da Vinci, Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein and Niklo Telsa (well anyway in my mind

). The only major character change that I remember was made by John Byrne' mid 1980s Superman but then Jor-El reverted back to the Silver age character in the 2000s/10s.

I don't recall any comic (unless there was one in else-world prints) Jor-El as a warrior or soldier, but certainly Crowe's warrior-like Jor-El is going to be a first, and will be a rarity in Superman universe.

I imagine that Jor-El will be both a warrior and scientist. Where else would they get the ship for Clark. Unless Lara is the scientist.

I know he has been depicted as being able to fight and use a weapon during the destruction of Krypton in both STAS and the new52.

If it helps him to control his already existent flying powers or something, I could begrudgingly accept it.

Edit 2: All he basically said was that he was playing Superman's dad and then he talked about how he told his son that he is going to be Superman's dad. He asked his son, "If I'm Superman's dad, then what does that make you?" His son says "Superman's brother?". That's all that was said. Well they showed his action figure, but that's it.
