War Machine Spinoff

I think most of y'all are trippin. Rhodey was also a Secret Avengers and teacher/leader of Avengers Academy. He's an Avenger, guys. I'd love to see a War Machine movie, wall to wall action, military espionage type stuff, it could be pretty frikkin awesome. You could also adapt the Eidolon Warwear storyline where he is chosen for some alien armor, playing up the fact that he is a warrior and pilot under that armor, and not an inventor.

But, because he is a lot like Iron Man, I don't think his movie should be released the same year as Iron Man's, I also agree he should have a small part in Avengers, like Hawkeye-sized or smaller, perhaps he has some conversations with Tony or Fury earlier, and then he shows up to help with the climactic battle.

Let me clarify: I have no problem with Rhodey, sans armor in the films. In fact, I would like to see him as a consultant/leader, since he is in the chain of command.

I want to see it but right now I don’t see it being greenlit. At the fanboy level there’s too much animosity, people who resent the character for being simply “the black Iron Man” and who wouldn’t blink if he were to be vaporized in the first five minutes of IM3.
I could see Rhodey fulfilling his current role of being the U.S. military’s official “Iron Man”, War Machine; being sent to global hot spots, Secret Avengers style.
If the producers wanted to be edgy, they could adopt the theme of one of the recent mini-series, where Rhodey goes rogue, with non-Stark armor, and goes off vigilante style against global warlords regardless of U.S./U.N. approval or not. This mini-series featured a gravely wounded, quadriplegic Rhodey who was bonded to his armor Robocop style.
Also, power-set wise, War Machine needs abilities that distinguish himself from Iron Man. In the aforementioned Greg Pak series, his armor had an assimilation power that could “absorb” machinery and weaponry from items/equipment that he touched, and so he could become literally a human tank or jet plane.

Ah, the MegaMan power. That could be fun. I don't know about that quadriplegic stuff, but it could be edgy enough to make him stand out, especially if there's no Iron Man 4 (ie RDJ only does Avengers movies after IM3), then a War Machine movie would be a right good idea, and who knows, RDJ might just cameo.

My beef with this is simple: There's already an armored superhero up on the big screen.

If they're going to spend the money, then i'd rather see a character more unique in origin/abilities: Dr. Strange, Namor, Black Panther, etc.,...


I'm not opposed to War Machine having a cameo in the new SHIELD series however...

A War Machine Spin-off could be really cool, but I don't see it happen soon.

I wonder what will happen with this project now with the up coming talks of more Iron Man films with Robert Downey Jr? Will they axe the idea if Iron Man 4 is confirmed?

I think they'll basically roll the IM4 and War Machine Spinoff ideas into one.

I wonder if the Eidolon armor will eventually be seen. We'll see.

I don't think Rhodey is an interesting character enough to headline his own movie. Marvel Studios should just do a movie for their other comic-book properties like Ms. Marvel, Dr. Strange, etc...

Yeah if they do Ms Marvel, Black Widow or any other character that's affiliated with US military, army, navy or SHIELD, Rhodey can definitely fit in place in that film, and essentially be a welcomed exciting addition.

I think Rhodey is a character that can play off of other characters, but his not as interesting alone.

I definitely wanna see a Captain America and Iron Patriot team up!!
