Seriously though, where did all this hype for Elba come from? I see him all over different casting threads now.

i feel like everyone's mainly suggesting christoph waltz as strange because of the beard. not that he'd be a bad choice, he'd be fantastic , but am i the only one who could see him as other villains as well ? joker , perhaps ?

Viggo there reminds me a ton of TDK's Maroni.

Love the idea of Brosnan as Alfred and Weaver as Dr. Thompkins. That'd be beautiful.

Matt Smith would be an interesting Joker - but also the Riddler. Not sure which he suits better. I question that he'd pull off 'creepy' convincingly for Joker, but he's already shown whispers of what could be expanded into a fantastic Riddler in his Doctor Who campaign.

There are a lot of other cool choices for Riddler too though.

I'm gonna be a little rude here, but Jon Hamm has got to be the most boring choice for Bruce Wayne I've ever seen become popular. Square jaws and nice and all, but come on. I don't get any charisma for this kind of part from him at all. -- Plus, he's too old at this point for depicting a Batman in his prime.

TDKReturns adaptation? Sure, I'd consider him a potential fit for that.. But then, I wouldn't care to see that directly adapted, don't feel all of it's components have aged well - plus, Rises lifted heavily from it already, and we have the animated version.

i love the idea of tim roth as the joker because he's the closest actor i can think of who can pull off resembling the original joker.

I still say Karl Urban would be cool beans. That's about the only popular choice I can say I agree with (in regards to Bruce/Bats). Yeah, he is too old though...

Cranston for Gordon, that's a given. I am a big fan of Brosnan for Alfred.

In the next films, I wanna see Penguin (Ray Winstone sounds good) and Poison Ivy (I could NOT see Chastain as Ivy though). I don't want any villains that have been used in Nolan's movies (that includes Catwoman). Viggo woulda been cool for Ra's but I don't want to see the LoS in a Batman film for a looooooong time.

Smith would make for an awesome Riddler too.

But what makes me see him as Joker is his flamboyance and eccentricity as the Doctor. It's perfect for a Joker based on TAS. Smith is pretty gifted, I think he could pull it off

Ah, there's our hang-up. I don't like the Joker from TAS.

The Riddler from TAS is awesome though. One of the better interpretations.

Generally, any time Dini writes Riddler it's great -- just recently finished Gotham City Sirens, loved him in that. Smith would nail that take on the character.

He was one of my picks for Riddler back when everyone was assuming (rightfully) that Nolan would be doing Riddler next.

But he would probably make a thrilling Joker. I'm very open to this.

Say it ain't so!

Speaking of Riddler. Any time I ever thought of him being on screen again, I just thought of the characterization from the Arkham games. That isn't something I'm fond of, because it presents him as a pathetic whining brat. Being reminded of John Glover's Riddler, the sophistication and maturity, even with his bigheaded ego, thats what I'd love to see.

Smith would definitely suit that....or Joker, he's versatile

Thoughts on who could play...

Killer Croc?
Solomon Grundy?
Maybe even Mad Monk?
