Most of the match ups don't make much sense...at first glance anyway. J'onn vs. Supes does but then again they showed J'onn punking the whole team a while back. GL vs. GL would makes sense I guess if it were two veterans. Baz doesn't know what he's doing yet. Katana probably should've been matched with Bats.

We just saw Aquaman deck Superman two issues ago and not even think twice about doing so. You think that an assasin,some one who all he would need to do to is land a glancing blow to knock out, would be able to take him on? Come on man.

I'm the one being irrational? Relax. I'm not saying he isn't cool, but he did have a stigma among comic readers of being lame. You really can't deny that.

That may be true for comic readers but I've never known Aquaman to be uncool. Now I'll admit I didn't read comics til I was 18 (no store near my house) so I was confined to what I saw in TV shows and cartoons. And what I saw was awesome.

He was in the Justice League cartoon and was royally BA, even in Super Friends he was awesome. To me he was awesome enough that I thought it would be awesome to have a Aquaman movie starring Chris Hemsworth and so when I saw him I asked him about it. True I was booed by the crowd but I can honestly say I didn't understand why.

Now if he was lame in the comics before that's fine but he ain't now. Geoff Johns made sure of that.

He was awesome at various points in the comics. But nobody bothered to check it out cuz Super Friends and his old school cartoon before that made him look like a useless pansy.

Secondly, you bunch "comic readers" together as if we all like the same things and hate the same thing. The majority of this board, from what I have seen and I've been here a minute, likes Aquaman or various versions of him.

Thirdly, I'm not being irrational I'm just defending a character whom I enjoy to read when you bashed him needlessly.

Now I will concede that recently he had become more popular and in a more positive light but to say he has never been popular or cool is just plain illogical because he has had fans for decades.

You're taking my sarcastic statement way too seriously. Step out of your fan love for the character a second because it's making you irrational. Sorry you can't deal with the reality that Aquaman was not nearly as respected as he is now. I'm hardly bashing him so there really is no need to be so defensive.

Of course there will always be fans of Aquaman, but they don't represent the general feeling readers had of the character before. Aquaman didn't outsell titles like Uncanny X-Men before until New 52. The facts are against you. Why not just be happy he has been redeemed? Aquaman is cool now.

The artist, Pete Woods asked on facebook if anyone had pics of Detroit (not google images) and I sent him a whole bunch of pics I took. His references are pretty good and realistic so far

Seriously, why is this so predictable?? Every time they call themselves re-vamping a character, turn him into a female, a minority or a homosexual. SMH

I'm not saying that I dont want minority characters....I do. But I dont like classic character usurped for PC reasons! Why dont we create all-new charcaters that are already female or minority. Let them have their own names....not somebody else's.

And from the fact that none of the above mentioned charcaters and others like them have never set sells records, I think there are more fans who feel the same way I do.

I already know I will be attacked for daring to say this. Attacked by open-minded folks who declare that I can't freely think this.

Make the classic heroes better. Dont change who they are. I don't want a white Black Panther any more than I want a female Atom.

What is to your definition of "bombed", because half those characters never had a solo book so it's not like something got canceled because of them. Mr. Terrific's solo sucked (bad writing and art) but that had nothing to do with the fact that he was a replacement for an obscure character. He always seemed to be generally well liked by fans in the pages of JSA.

Just curious, do you have a problem with Ted Kord, Pieter Anton Cross, Rick Tyler, Tim Drake...?

She was all right, but that was more to do with Greg Rucka being a total badass than anything else. He created great stories for Montoya, but it still never sat well with me that she became a superhero in the first place.
